Yeah Fires on the Plain is on top of my most wanted. Such a great film.

Yeah, it's truly a remarkable film, and really surprised it hasn't hit BD yet. One of the darkest WWII films I've seen and what soldiers will resort to in order to survive.

We're a bit late with this, but Criterion actually tweeted a pic from Albert Brooks' Real Life (1979) this morning. So, that's probably getting announced today, given its also the 45th anniversary of the film.

While I know this isn’t going to happen, I hope they redo the Blu-ray and DVD of The Last Emperor, since the AR is a legitimate problem with both.

Ain’t gonna happen, but it should.

A new DVD definitely isn't going to happen, but a redone Blu-ray would and nice.

Real Life and The Last Emperor are shoo-ins at this point, which leaves three or four spots open.

TLE is probably the big title of the month.

What else do we think fills the slate?

I'm hoping the post-2000 is either .. Nurse Betty .. or ...Frailty.

Nobody saw those when they came out .. except me.

One notable post-2000 title was A History Of Violence. It was one of the more normal Cronenberg titles (meaning no exploding heads or inserting bloody tapes into body cavities), it had a great story, and it’s also allegedly the last mass-produced VHS ever.

Currently only available in a now ancient Blu-ray from New Line/WHV.

I love Nurse Betty, but it looks like Mill Creek has the rights to that one. They rereleased it on DVD like a year ago.

Born in Flames (and, most likely as an extra, Regrouping) by Lizzie Borden is coming at some point, but who knows if it is this month or not.

Sad irony:

Mark Damon, who played Philip Winthrop in the Roger Corman film House Of Usher, died on May 12 at 91, three days after Corman died.

I get everyone dies at some point, but one right after the other is just awful.

It takes lots of time to type up the details for the Kurosawa 4K set.
