When the heck is "Picnic at Hanging Rock" going to come out? That has to be in the pipeline sometime soon.

Well, at least I'll be able to save some cash in March. At most I'll rent "Topsy Turvy."

You hadn't heard? That project was canceled when the negative for the film was destroyed in a fire on the Universal backlot.

[Show spoiler]Oops, I mean, it will apparently be out in April 2011.

The Blu-Ray of Robinson Crusoe is coming out pretty soon. It looks really interesting. I'm wondering if many people here have seen it? What do you think, and is there anything that you can compare it to? I don't know anything about it.

They wanted something to eat, so they got donuts.

[Show spoiler]Since most people are wanting Lynch in the collection, they think it's for the Twin Peaks movie.

Twin Peaks, maybe. But I don't know about the whole Lynch/dvd rights crap (nor do I care), so someone else could tell you if it can happen and not some fan crap half of facebook wants it to be.

To give an excuse why they announced the titles they did today.

I have no problem with the new titles (as I love when they release new surprises and lesser known titles). But when I say weak, I mean strange combo choices in obscure titles, not weak as in "not popular enough" (Blow Out, Chaplin, The Game, etc etc). I would prefer a month like this over bigger titles that studios could pop out. They should of thrown something strange and fresh in there (once again, Malle's Black Moon is highly rumored. A surreal type film.) instead of a Gilbert and Sullivan month. Who requested that month?

oh. i don't really have an opinion on the matter. or an answer.

i don't spend much time here as i'm not as sufficiently evolved as some of the members here and 98% of the time have no effin' idea what they're talking about () but it is the funnest thread to read through. it's usually always the thread that's most on the verge of imploding upon itself with vile hatred, smart @ss comments, and oozing from the seams with film knowledge.

that's why i enjoy it so much

I'm SO buying it, and not just to upgrade my Image DVD of the restored '39 Mikado:
(Or because, say, the Turvy DVD has dropped off of every minor company that ever released it...)

Jim Broadbent was robbed at the Oscars, and more importantly, the '39 Mikado was one of the last film records of the actual D'Oyly-Carte production with the original sets and company actors--
The package deal is so perfect, it practically makes "Turvy" look like a making-of feature documentary, to compare Martin Savage's portrayal of the comedy-relief actor with Martyn Green's actual company performance.
Too bad about the crappy idiosyncratic artsy-Criterion cover for Turvy, though.

The steelbooks threads are worse. But there is more subtle friendship here...

I have a really stupid "noob" question regarding Criterions BD releases.

Are they releasing BDs of films that are already in their library as DVDs? Do they plan to release all of their current catalog as BDs? OR are the BD releases all new to the Criterion catalog?
