I feel uneasy picking this up at B&N now that you mention it.

Even though The Dark Knight would be a controversial Criterion release with some folks, it would be well deserved - especially if it was loaded with new supplements produced by Criterion. Doesn't Criterion have a WB deal?

True, which is why I'll likely be passing on Chunking Express.

However, although I sprung for the Apple 4K DV digital of Anora, I'll definitely be picking up the Anora UHD (on sale). The Prince is a surprising edition as I thought a Baker set was forthcoming. Regardless, Anora is a Top 5 of 2024 for me. Go Mikey!

The Two Berri(s) Set, Jean & Manon, in UHD, wow! On my wish list for the next sale pickup, as will Basquiat.

That film will bring back memories of days working in Soho while in college for a shop which provided top-of-line framing services for all the major art galleries and boldface names (think gold leaf). The owners would arrive to inspect the work – Tony Shafrazi, Gagosian, Mary Boone, sometimes with artists in tow, Haring and... Basquiat. A major mambo duster – this guy was out seven nights a week when in town, well for that matter, wherever he was at the moment, hitting up countless gallery parties and clubs in a single evening. You couldn't miss him.

Some Like It Hot on 4K is already in my collection, so that's a pass until I gift the Kino, and since I already own the Criterion Blu for Ugetsu, it's a down the line maybe in spite of the opinion it's an absolutely phenomenal watch and definitely deserving of a UHD.

As shared, Criterion is operating on a completely different level than any other label. Cue LL, straight outta St. Albans, Queens, NY.

When they released Take Out I half expected Four Letter Words to be a bonus film attached to Prince of Broadway.
Considering his debut I'm surprised it'll get it's own release.

They have Starlet too so still possible FLW will be a special feature on there.

I really can't imagine it as a standalone release...as much as I love Baker's work, FLW really is kind of a nothing of a movie lol. Flat, boring characters, basically no plot, kinda ugly cinematography...definitely feels more like a (bad) student film than an actual movie. Take Out is a huge improvement as his second feature, and again to be clear, I love every Baker movie except FLW haha

Maybe eventually. I don't even own it on BD as I try to avoid Digipacks. I'll probably get it eventually.

We're halfway through January and Criterion has already announced 5 titles I'm definitely picking up ('Chungking Express', 'Choose Me', 'Punch Drunk Love', 'Thief', 'Anora').

2025 is going to be such a winner !

And I need an intimacy coordinator just to look at that 'Anora' packaging.

I cannot wait for Anora. It was one of my top three movies of 2024.

Honestly, this month's a bit too boring, and just uninteresting for me, and I didn't see anything that interested me looks too safe no controversial titles like White Dog, or Man Bites Dog either boring. First month was quite strong, and February had some good stuff too, but March wasn't that good with only Thief, and Wages of Fear catching my eye, and this month is just boring as Ugetsu already has a Blu-Ray that I plan on buying this year while the rest of this lineup I'm sorry just sucks.

So why not upgrade something that is incredibly controversial I mean come on you put out Happiness last year so why not upgrade Man Bites Dog it makes perfect sense to me. Criterion really needs to go way more outside their comfort zone this year, and not just once, or twice, but multiple times. So yes I'm going to criticize this lineup as I find it incredibly unimpressive.
