It's worth it. The only stinker in the set is DRIVE, HE SAID.

Back when the releases were announced, people were upset about Enter the Void not being chosen. Has there been any hints/suggestions for it?
I've never seen the film, but I did just see Irreversible last night. I enjoyed that film, so would I like Enter the Void? |

Just picked up Criterion's Gimme Shelter which was 40% off at cnl warehouse here in vancouver- also bought what seemed to be their last copy of CC's The Man who fell to earth...it was $42 plus 12% discount...they had two copies of Zodiac...bought one so if you live in the area you should grab the other ...it was only $27 plus there 's a sale discount....
Really looking forward to Sweet Smell of Success and the rumoured Carlos on CC....have a great year watching great flicks everyone! |

Just watched Mystery Train. Did anyone else get a subtle Pulp Fiction vibe from that movie?

Interesting. I didn't personally, at least not in terms of pace. Jarmusch is almost comatose and relaxing compared to Tarantino's mania. They do both have overlapping episodes and ensemble casts though, so I can see where you might find a similarity.

I've only seen four of the movies. I dislike Five Easy Pieces, think Head is a waste of time (in today's context) and have seen Easy Rider enough times to last my lifetime. Still, The Last Picture Show is one of my favorite movies (see signature) so given that we may not see these released individually by Criterion and the fact that Criterion Blu-rays go out of print sometimes I had to make the purchase. And I'm a cheapskate. |

they have a choice in what movies to distribute, and thus, understandingly, they dont want to release craps to preserve their reputation. It is natural and anyone would do that. We shouldnt associate it with some "speciality" associated with Criterion only. |

I normally wouldn't blind buy a set like this, but I really enjoy the Last Picture Show, and if some of these films share a similar aesthetic then I find it hard to believe that I wouldn't enjoy any of them. Couple that with that fact that I could easily resell this set used for a profit if I really don't find it worth keeping. Those things worked in my favor, so I bit. 7 films (that aren't Syfy originals) and a nice big booklet sold for $56 shipped is a good deal. |
