On the latest episode of Konbini Video Club, Jeff Goldblum mentions recording a new commentary track for Wes Anderson’s Isle of Dogs.

He mentions it at the 22 minute 11 sec mark.

“We recorded a new commentary for the, you know, new edition of Isle of Dogs”. - Jeff Goldblum

Very curious to see if this is the first Wes Anderson flick that Criterion puts out on 4k.

God, I hope Isle of Dogs is soon. Been dying to rewatch that (and his last two) recently.

Also hopin' for the last two Scorsese WB films to get a release. Not sure f they'll be packaged together or separate, but I do hope they happen.

Isle of Dogs has been in 4K digital for quite a long while now, but it still surprises me how long it has taken for it to come to physical media.

I had written Criterion years ago to suggest 'Christiane F.'. Obviously they never respond in a way that tips their hand, but having had several suggestions turn into releases, I thought I could read their reactions and it seemed like they weren't interested in this title.

If they do release this now, I'm glad I read them wrong. And if my suggestion had anything to do with them picking up this title, then once again I am happy! I was actually just starting to think who else could release this and was thinking maybe Vinegar Syndrome. Glad it's Criterion!

Anyone know why the Wind Will Carry Us release is BD-only given it’s a 4K restoration?

Edited to add* It's also got me interested in seeing out the book Zoo Station that this was based off
I poked my head in and watch bits and pieces. I'll check it out when Criterion releases it.

I looked at possibly placing an order but knowing the B & N sale is coming soon, I thought I better pass. In addition, the Criterion Mobile Closet is returning to L.A. at the Aero June 6 and 7th. I'm planning on going.

I'll probably place an order during the 30% off sale, next payday which would be the 23rd to get some points. Though I have to save for the VS Halfway to Black Friday sale also.

When they have that sale I usually only order two titles. I don’t go crazy with that like I do with the B&N sale.

I loved it, though not as much as Mr. Fox. It’s one of Anderson’s most beautiful films visually. It was very divisive, so hard to predict how you’ll feel about it.

I'm doing that, too. That, and Severin's Summer Sale is mid-June, too.

I loathe how they all gang up and make my budget just break down with fits of laughter...

My guess is they didn't think it would sell enough on 4K UHD. Not a big deal for me since I'm happy with just Blu-ray, even if I would have picked up the 4K.

Criterion just released Le jour se leve (Daybreak) on Apple TV (previously only VUDU), as well as Remorques (Stormy Waters) and Le Plaisir. They bundled them together as a "Starring Jean Gabin" bundle.

There's a good chance that all of these will see the light of day on BD.
