Sorry Duke, I don't think Criterion are touching Cyrano anytime soon, if ever

There's a good chance that all of these will see the light of day on BD.
I've been going through the Poetic Realism collection on the Criterion Channel -- Le jour se leve (Daybreak) and Remorques (Stormy Waters) are both there. A couple of the films in that collection are in real rough shape, but most of them would work on BD just fine.

Criterion has the rights to so many central Poetic Realist movies, what a great box set that would make. Even as a solo, I've been waiting for L’Atalante forever.

Same here. I have never bought into the cult of Vinegar Syndrome and likely never will. I appreciate what they do and the efforts they make, but the choices and prices leave me cold.

Cyrano De Bergerac probably not getting a physical release was pretty bad way to start the day. Always been a huge Gérard Depardieu fan, so sad to hear about some of the horrible choices he made late in life with touching two women in an unwanted way. It just begs the questions, should a film suffer because of this? I don't have the answer, but it is interesting. Also, I often hear people saying won't buy a Roman Polanski directed film, but I don't often hear people say they won't buy a Harvey Weinstein produced film? Both get money from sales, so what exactly is the difference?

Just thinking out loud, but hate seeing art suffer because of the horrible choices people make. Was really hoping for a Criterion release of Cyrano De Bergerac and wonder if it was already in production?

They should release Samurai Saga and slap Cyrano De Bergerac as an extra on a bonus disc.

Rewatching The Sword of Doom by Kihachi Okamoto. It’s always been a favorite of mine. The acting by Nakadai is spectacular. It’s a big reason I delved into his acting career. I have the dvd and wondering if it’s worth getting the blu. Also, there are so few of Okamoto’s films on bluray! I would love to see more of his work get some love.

One of my favorite films in the collection. It's absolutely hypnotic.

Great film. Saw it for the first time a few years back, and thought it was one of Mifune's best performances.

Yeah, we need more Okamoto on Blu-ray. My most wanted would be Red Lion, but would love Samurai Assassin, Japans Longest Day, The Battle of Okinawa, etc.

Lionsgate has this title. It may see a reissue with the Lionsgate Limited line, but if not, you can buy the Studio Canal 4K, and there is a new edition being released as well.

I Know Where I'm Going! has to be coming, right?

And hopefully it doesn't take to long for Buñuel's Él to make it's way to BD.

And it is a shame that neither Criterion or Warner Archive have released Baby Face yet.

Since they are showing Christiane F. at the beginning of June, do we think they could announce it for an August title~or further down the line?
