Im not too sure the other two sets will come down in price as quickly.

But again, it's all in what you want the most at the current time, but if Aliens is just going to sit on your shelf without viewing it might be best to hold off on it.

PS. Just checked prices at our local BestBuy
Aliens $99
Hitchcock - $139
American Lost $123

Either way you go you are getting one heck of a deal compared to what I would pay - but I'd personally go with the BBS set with those savings! I'd want the Hitch movies on blu
Very true. Wish the Madison Costco had it at that price. I agree that it'll keep going down. I bet Amazon will have it for less than $50 in next few months.

I didn't think Hitchcock was coming to Blu, save for a few releases.

Buying one of these in the near future, any thoughts on those who have seen or own the blus? Breathless, The 400 Blows, or Red Desert.
PS, I know that Red Desert isn't a French film.

Get The 400 Blows please. By far the best of the bunch, and the quality is excellent. To get something like Red Desert over that would be pretty foolish.

For those interested, you can order "Bob le Flambeur" online from Walmart for just under $25.00.

Just wondering, did Chungking Express go out of print or something? It just sky rocketed in price on amazon but criterion still has some in stock. Just to be on the safe side I called my Barnes and Noble and got them to hold me a copy until tomorrow I'm just gonna blind buy the movie because I don't want to regret passing up on it.

One marketplace seller on Amazon is claiming it's out of print. With DD, Amazon, BN, Family Video, etc being out of stock it is looking that way.

Best Buy of all places has it in stock.

Three possible scenarios:

1. We're seeing the dwindling supply run out of the initial printing. More copies to be printed.
2. Supplies are low because Criterion is going to release another Blu-ray version.
3. It's out of print.

1. Most likely scenario.
2. When in the history of Criterion have they ever released another version of a film they've distributed?
3. If it was OOP it would've been announced.

The bad news is that you've got, all you've got, 23 and 1/2 months to enjoy your Blu-ray collections. Starting tonight. Starting with tonight's sit!

I am not in the know for Criterion, have they or planning to release any movies new that were not on DVD before coming to Blu yet? Or converting all the old Crits from DVD?

They release new movies that weren't on Criterion DVD previously. Cronos, Bigger Than Life, The Night of the Hunter, and Modern Times come to mind.

Sweet Criterion is the absolute best IMO, just hope they come out with more of my faves I have Videodrome so far in Blu, how do they pick the movies? I see alot of movies from different companies getting the Criterion treatment, how does it work?

My guess is they obviously pick a movie that they feel is "classic" and "contemporary" and try to obtain the rights to the film, to release it. They might've tried to obtain the rights to a movie, like the Social Network, as previously discussed in this thread, but probably fell through because of Sony or something, as an example. I'm not sure on how they pick them necessarily, but it's probably a majority vote or something. I'm not an expert on how Criterion does this, but I'm confident others on this forum know this better than me.

I do agree, however, that Criterion is awesome. I love all my Criterion Blu-rays so damn much. Videodrome is fantastic, as well.
