Same. I was expecting Criterion's traditional Wes Anderson packaging style for this release.

They skipped a few numbers for the two individual releases
1276 Saving Face
1281 Isle of Dogs
1282 The French Dispatch

so I guess the next announcement will have at least four new to Criterion and not just upgrades

Good catch. Let the speculation begin.

I'm going to guess 4 new spines and 1 upgrade.

And a little coat rack on the side of the shelf for my scarves and ascots. Of course, I'd have to pull some ascots from my Bogdanovich shelving since I only have so many. Hm. Well, plenty of time to figure it out before September.
Great idea! It's too bad it can't have its own room, but a shelf is very nice as well

Assuming the mythical Flow release will be one.

the Wes Anderson set is gorgeous but to me it already feels out of date with Asteroid City not being included and The Phoenician Scheme on the way, so not sure I will get it. my OCD couldn’t take it!

hoping the other titles are released individually on 4K as well, and that the Netflix shorts also come out at some point! (doesn’t Criterion have a deal with Netflix?)

That would be a hilarious spit in the face. Especially if it's only a regular blu.

Also very happy that the next flash sale will only be a couple weeks after this release so I can get the new Andersons pretty soon after release still

I think that’s exactly why they didn’t go with this. It’s something different, something that stands apart. (And also, an excuse for Wes Anderson to indulge his passion for 1950s and 1960s classic book design.)

Would have been nice to include some Zissou correspondence stock and a Montblanc “Schreiberling” in the set…

(Not) looking forward to another round of "weak ass month" comments with that many new to CC releases. Yuck!

Those comments are the worst, and super annoying. I honestly don't have many titles on my wishlist that Criterion still has on DVD, or Laserdisc that haven't gotten Blu-Ray upgrades yet. I'm glad we get Blu-Ray upgrades of titles that are new to the collection that have never been on Blu-Ray, and people get mad about that too like it's ridiculous.

The list of titles I'm still waiting on
Drunken Angel
The Bad Sleep Well
White Dog
Snow Trail
Dead Presidents

Possibly with Criterion
The Defiant Ones
Catch-22
Captain Blood
The Year of Living Dangerously could be with Arrow, or WAC themselves

It still works, keeping the set a 25 year theme. Cause I suspect it’ll come out eventually anyway.

Really appreciate criterion giving the last two in the WA set solo releases for all of us who have every other film

Which is missing in the collection. I want it as a poster.

It's gotten more attention in the dedicated thread. Here's my post reply to someone praising the art:

Here's a larger pic of his original work:
