Seconded all these but will highlight De Sica's work for one. Shoeshine is coming out soon and that's one of his best but of course, Bicycle Thieves and Umberto D. are masterpieces.

Also Il Sorpasso is a personal favorite. Heavy influence on Alexander Payne for Sideways. Also one of the best and "holy shit" endings that I didn't see coming.

Some great suggestions by others, but my priorities would be:
Fellini: La Dolce Vita, La Strada and 8 1/2.
De Sica: Bicycle Thieves
Pietrangeli: I Knew Her Well
Antonioni: L'Avventura

These aren't "lesser known," but you didn't list Mizoguchi's Ugetsu or the original Godzilla (Gojira), both of which are essential viewing. If you're interested in a more contemporary Japanese film, check out Drive My Car, I thought it was fantastic.

I do think Criterion will release it in 4K soon, though.

Does the name change to Criterion Premieres signify anything? Is it still newer release films or is there a chance for older films? Otherwise, curious why they changed the name?

I don't think it changes anything. I imagine they just switched it because Criterion is a much more recognizable, and stronger branding. I also think the Premieres name emphasizes even more that it will be the place for new releases rather than anything older.

I'm guessing the lower than 50% off prices on these BDs is telling us something about the relative sales of Criteiron BDs vs 4Ks to their customers.

Though DVDs are still the majority of unit sales in the physical media market, above 4Ks and BDs combined. But those aren't selling to Criterion's customers.

It's just Amazon bots accidently price matching DVD's or BD's from Deep Discount. Has nothing to do with format sales figures or anything as some 4K titles have been lowered to the same amount as well.

For instance, Moonage Daydream 4K just went down to $15.01

That's an incorrect PM of this:

Amazon incorrectly pricing the "MOONAGE" 4K and the "Trainspotting" HD while I wanted it the other way around...

Not like it matters, they're both fantastic Pics - and the Latter's deal makes me too eager to get it over the 4K (I was never gonna buy that Online - the thought of a Cardboard Cover getting shipped from the US scares me...)

Sure. But if DeepDiscount is selling those Criterion BDs over 50% off, doesn't that still tell us somethig about how well Criterion BDs are selling? Or else why would DeepDiscount drop the price so low?

No, look at the link I'm pointing you to. It's largely not Criterion releases that they're matching at DD, but mostly the major studio ones. Almost all of them are non-Criterion releases which is why it's an obvious error by their bots. In a couple instances like in the case of I Walked With a Zombie / The 7th Victim BD price of $17.51 Amazon are matching Criterion DVD release price at DD, which is obviously still a mistake.

I swung by my local Barnes & Noble. They didn't have the titles I was most interested in, but I managed to get the Thief 4K and the Jean de Florette/Manon of the Spring 4K set. They had the Repo Man 4K, but the copies weren't minty enough for my liking. I'll check out the other B&N down the road later this week.

Thanks for the suggestions fellow Criterion, and Blu-Ray, and 4K collectors I'll need to check out some of these on the Criterion Channel before buying them. I have some titles I need to watch on the channel. Bicycle Thieves, and 8 1/2 have been on my watch list for so long I'm surprised I haven't gotten to them yet.

Also La Dolce Vita as well

Ugh - I already have the Region B blu-ray that actually got me into region-free movies in the first place, but at $15 to future-proof the 4K and get the Friedkin documentary, I'd be a fool to NOT get it. Right?

I got Moonage Daydream too - again at $15, it's just gotta be done.

An hour later it's back at $24.95.

Too bad. Though I've heard it's missing the teal layer anyway.

Full price--no, but I will occasionally get new releases because they are 30% off plus 10% with membership, which does work when it's not the 50% off sale. so it ends up being only a few dollars away from the 50% off price.

I asked the cashier once who commented that I must be there for the criterion sale and asked. He said some people do occasionally buy them not on sale.
