I never have much luck with making lists, but I will say for October it would be a perfect time for The Brother from Another Planet

I don’t blame Natasha for getting it while the gettin is good. Her vid is me when I walk into a B&N during a Criterion sale.

He has been in the closet before, they had posted a picture years ago on social media of him holding a tote bag full of discs, so this was just the first time they filmed it.

The videos are edited down too, so they almost always pick more titles than what's shown in the video. In the Polaroid taken on the day you can see Cronenberg holding up On the Waterfront as well. This was shot all the back in April, when The Shrouds just came out in theaters.

Great great video nonetheless. I love the way Cronenberg talks about films. I could actually just listen to him speak on it all day. He has a calm, and relaxing kind of voice.

I know. Thirty nine films! Now he broke the record for raiding the Closet!

To each their own. She's cool in a different way!

Yeah, I was all set to respond to a “he changed it just like he changed AI” with my usual diatribe about how Spielberg didn’t do anything but finish the middle of AI’s story but life’s too short for thaaaaaat…

Alright time for my haul I cut it down to four titles instead of 5

My haul from Barnes and Noble in store
Thief this is the mystery surprise title it was between this Picnic at Hanging Rock, and a few others, but in the end I went with Thief
Godzilla
The Wages of Fear bought it in store instead of online last copy too
Withnail and I

They were sold out of The Long Good Friday, and House was in a spot in the store where it shouldn't be so I didn't end up finding, or buying either of those films.

So my online haul from Barnes and Noble will be
The Long Good Friday
House
How to Get Ahead In Advertising
Girlfight

That'll be it for this month.

I watched Holiday this afternoon and really enjoyed it, Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn were incredible together! It starts off with Cary Grant finding out that the woman he just met and decided to marry is actually from an incredibly rich family. He does well for himself but doesn't have a huge drive to become rich or make a ton of money, he wants to make a certain amount of money and then temporarily retire so he can go off and find what makes him happy in life. He's so excited that he's found the woman he wants to do it with, but hasn't told her that plan yet. So, he finds out she's from a wealthy family and they both try to convince the father that Grant is worthy of his daughter. Along the way, he meets her sister (Katharine Hepburn) and her brother. Her sister is the black sheep of the family, she's full of sentiment and joy and hates the rich society she was brought up in. The brother is an alcoholic after being forced into the family business as the only son. They both absolutely love Grant's character because he represents a joy for life that their family is missing. The father and Grant's fiance both decide they want to bring him into the family business, and he's absolutely horrified at the suggestion due to his aforementioned plans, and plenty of drama, romance, and comedy ensues.

It has so many funny parts, Grant does more than a few flips and tumbles, including an absolutely magnificent one with Hepburn. He actually gained acrobatic experience by performing with a troupe on the vaudeville scene starting when he was a teen. It also has some deeply emotional parts, Hepburn is absolutely magnificent as the black sheep of the family. She's incredible in The Philadelphia Story, but I think I liked her even better in this. She's funny, charming, and just absolutely starry-eyed.

I will say that I was absolutely baffled before watching that the woman with Grant on the cover looked absolutely nothing like Hepburn, even though it obviously advertises her as Grant's co-star (obviously she's a profile in the background though). This obviously makes way more sense after you start watching it lol.

I forgot to mention I saw Moonstruck at the Barnes and Noble store, but sadly I didn't have enough money to pick it up it was the last copy too Doggone it. Guess I'll buy it online along with The Killing on Amazon as I've been wanting to pick up both films so bad especially The Killing as I haven't seen it yet.

He did a similar video in some French video store that’s really good.

These are your predictions for ONE month? Nice fantasy Maybe one of these. Criterion has never had an entire slate of just A list films. Out of these, I'd pick Dog Day Afternoon.

Yup, no Criterion lineup is complete without at least one recent film, shot on digital, featuring hookers and with a poster here saying "Finally! I was hoping Criterion would release ____".

Maybe we'll finally see one or both Cape Fears, given Criterion have probably had them under licence for at least five years now.
