Not the best month, not the worst month. I will be getting them all regardless. Besides the Twin Peaks upgrade, Deep Crimson has my interest as well as Altered States.

Might actually dipped again and get the new Altered States. Amazing cover and features looks good.

A History of Violence has a weird cover. Depends on how good this version looks before I dip again.

Absolutely getting the Shrouds though.
All the recent Fox/Disney titles that have been previously released on UHD by the mouse, have been 4K UHD/Blu-ray dual-format with no solo Blu-ray (Wall E, Shape of Water, Nightmare Alley.)

They had no plan for the contemporary label other then putting out new stuff on while also still putting out new stuff on the main Criterion label (Perfect Days, Nightmare Alley, etc).

I would have preferred if they really tightened up the primary Criterion label to reflect more of the canon; established and evolving but set like a minimum 10 years from release date.

Also I saw The Shrouds and despite being Canadian, I am not a hardcore Cronenberg fan. That said, I think it’s best since History of Violence but sits better in his filmography along the likes of Crash and Videodrome (which in a way feels like a spiritual successor to IMO from a plot perspective and the ideas he puts forth).

For me it was worth a watch on streaming but not a purchase.

Not that many surprises as Altered States was a Criterion Channel/FilmStruck title, Eyes has been upgraded in Australia/France and we already knew Nightmare Alley, A History of Violence, The Shrouds were in the works.

It reminds me of American Gothic.

So they've renamed Janus Contemporaries to Criterion Premieres.

I’m not 100% sure what exactly I’ll be buying from this particularly lineup, I just know that my wallet is going to be hurtin’ for certain.

The Shrouds being blu-ray only is so lame. Will import the French 4K instead.

Cover for Deep Crimson is incredible. Great film too, of course, don't sleep on it.

Nightmare Alley and Twin Peaks get DigiPacks. The rest are basic.

By the way, does anyone own the old Janus Contemporaries releases? If so, are the words "Janus Contemporaries" listed anywhere on the package? If so, I'm curious if these films will be re-released with "Criterion Premieres" instead now.

100% agreed. Haven't looked at the specs for the french disc but wouldnt be surprised if Second Sight or someone drops an UHD n the UK.

Second Sight is very likely as they also licensed Crimes from Vertigo.

I'm a huge William Hurt fan, so definitely grabbing Altered States later this fall.
