Ronan’s closest vid proves he has no issue with Polanski titles coming from Criterion.

All that talk about Criterion never releasing another Polanski film on their label… that ain’t happening. His films sell and I want me some 4K upgrades! That includes a whole new Rosemary’s Baby 4K scan with none of that DNR stick hitting it. That Paramount 4K is trash.

Real talk, with Eclipse back, maybe they'll release a set with his early works.

Woody Allen's films are really in need of new masters. Especially his MGM catalogue (which is a good chunk of his filmography).

Would be nice to see Criterion do Lady of Burlesque since Film Masters dropped it from their release schedule.

Criterion just updated the "Coming soon" banner image from "You Can Count on Me" to "Nightmare Alley," so maybe announcements will happen!

I'd love to see Woody Allen hit the closet and what his selection would be like. I feel like his knowledge is vast and love that he mentioned Kagemusha in Rifkin's Festival.

Criterion at one time announced new titles late in the afternoon, sometimes as late as 4:00pm pacific time. It was only recently that it turned into a earlier time in the day. So there still could be title reveals today.

Maybe they are waiting on Senor Spielbergo to sign off on the cover of El imperio del sol

I fail to see how Ronan caring or not matters in any way to what Criterion does.

I haven't watched the video, cause I don't care about his picks, but if he picked Polanski titles it just makes him a hypocrite.

Polanski's situation is much worse than Woody's, he's been in exile for a reason, and it didn't stop studios from releasing his movies.

I have a feeling that Allen’s films could get boutique treatments when he’s passed away. Not so much because of him and the negative persona he has with many people, but he’s never been one to allow supplements or participate in home media releases

I think the laserdiscs criterion had of his films had zero supplements

He's softened enough on that to have had a Substack throughout 2023 to which he'd authorised the inclusion of a lot of outtakes and deleted scenes from his personal video archives. I assume Bob Weide, Letty or one of his daughters was running it but there's some real gold on it.

But he said he wanted to pick Rosemary’s Baby but since it was OOP, and he said he hoped it would be back in print from Criterion.

I’ll get back to everyone on Tuesday when I think Criterion will announce. Everything is too uncertain right now.
