Did you also forget a sealed copy of Pierrot le Fou in there?

Seriously though, great find.

I'm looking to pick up Wages of Fear, Paris Texas or Bigger Than Life for my next purchase. Recommendation?

Ohh, man. Those three are some of the best Criterion Blus available. Any one of them would be a great choice. I'd go with Paris, Texas as a first, but either one of the three would be a solid pick up.

I would consider Charade, a favorite of mine on Blu, Bigger Than Life, Paths of Glory, and definitely Night of the Hunter.

at least buy Rebecca and Notorious at the minimum or miss out on 2 of his top 8 imo.
Notorious is my favorite Hitchcock film hands down.
if for some reason you haven't seen it race to amazon now.
I could not stream Notorious from Netflix, so I watched The Lady Vanishes instead...what a great film!! As much as I love Hitch, there are a bunch of his films I have never seen. I have always been intrigued by Lifeboat, but never got around to it.

Anyone ever see it?

Quite a few times. Not one of his best films, but it is good. Kind of like Rope in the sense the whole film takes place in one location (a lifeboat duh) and is a character study.

I wish Criterion would get Notorious for a Bluray release. I'd also like to see some of Hitch's older films get a restoration and bluray release like Secret Agent or the original Man who knew too much. 39 steps maybe? Aren't most of those films public domain titles ? I remember on DVD they saw countless releases mostly poor ones.

Out of those three I would say Wages of Fear. Other then that Night of the Hunter, Charade. Also if you don't mind subtitles Seven Samurai and Yojimbo are highly recommended. Also depending on your tastes The Red Shoes or the Black Narcissus are great releases.

It really depends on your tastes. I've liked the majority of Criterions titles, but I've bought a few I couldn't stand as well.

I really liked Rope, and it is one of the movies I have seen multiple times from the Universal box set, the Masterpiece Collection me thinks. So, maybe I'd like Lifeboat too? Sounds really good...I think I will check on streaming that one next.

I would also like more Hitch on Blu, especially for the titles that are already in the CC. I know The Birds is the next one up from Universal, and if it is anything like their release for Psycho, we should be in for a treat. I only wish they'd release them in a set like they did for DVD. I realize that it might not be worth it financially for them, but damn, that'd be a killer set!

You mentioned teaching English, so you might like that Lifeboat is based on a Steinbeck story.

I was looking up Margaret Lockwood on imdb. She was an actress who starred in Hitchcock's "Tha Lady Vanishes" and I see she is also in "Night Train to Munich".

On imdb, Night Train is credited as a spinoff to Lady Vanishes...

from imdb:

Spin off from
The Lady Vanishes (1938)
- This is a spin-off of The Lady Vanishes. It does follow the movie

Can anyone explain what that means?

Thanks!

weird.
I got Night Train, and didn't think about lady vanishes one time while watching it.
maybe I missed some slight connection, not sure.
It does have the same pretty actress, but other than that......
btw: I was totally stoked for "train", but I gotta admit it just didn't wow me like I was hoping.
I love train films, and I guess my expectations were too high.
