Has anyone watched the Studio Kanal version of The Third Man? If so, how does it compare to the Criterion version?

I haven't seen the Studio Canal release, so I can't comment on the difference.

I saw your post earlier today, about "Pierrot le Fou" etc. If you are thinking of adding those two movies to your collection to watch, now is the time to get them. In my opinion, "Pierrot le Fou" will go up in price like "The Man who fell to Earth" did, if not higher.

I have the Studio Canal version. I haven't seen the Criterion of it, but I can say that the Studio Canal of The Third Man is a very suitable version if you don't want to pay a million dollars for the Criterion. The video and audio quality is perfectly fine. I unfortunately didn't start getting into Criterions until after it went out of print on Criterion, so I never got the chance to get it. Of course, the Criterion version is probably a lot better, but for the low price, you can't go wrong with the Studio Canal one.

I also got Close-up earlier today. I've been very interested in seeing the Blu for this one.

I felt that if they were going to end up together then she would have attempted to give him a more defnintive answer, along with saying something regarding where they stand (as a couple) when she returns.

In addition, she never showed up to The California the night they were supposed to have their first date. Perhaps I am not quite "getting it" but that was my impression of the situation. That she wasn't too interested after all...
Interesting. I see you're looking at it from the perspective of the guy. I think you should also look at it from the girl's perspective. Based on the story, we already know that the girl likes him because of all the things that she did for him secretly. The way I saw it, it's the guy who needed to realize that he likes the girl.

[Show spoiler]While she didn't technically make it for the date, she did go to the meeting place but then left after deciding to go to California. I see this as her way of finally doing something for herself, that is, to follow her dream of going to California, instead of doing things for the guy the whole movie, and probably to also think about how she really feels about him.

When they met again, I think the reason, why she said she didn't know when she would return was because she still didn't know what the guy's feelings are for her. Also when he asked her to write, she said in a disappointed voice that he probably wouldn't read it anyway, which shows that she thinks he didn't open her letter. I think the boarding pass was significant because it's probably her way of telling him before that she hopes they can go to California together when she returns after a year. And when the guy showed the boarding pass, that's when she finally knew that he also likes her, which is why she offers to write him another one and asks where he wants to go. The guy then reciprocates by saying he's "easy", and that he'll go wherever she wants him to.

Makes you more "mainstream" than the two directors you use now.

Thanks for the replies a couple pages back...I'm going to go with Wages of Fear. I was going to get Army of Shadows from BN, but since it's 3 for 2, I figured I would get 400 Blows plus something else (Wages of Fear). I'd normally wait till the 50% sale, but I really do not want to wait for Army of Shadows, it's such a great film.

I already have Seven Samurai, Paths of Glory, Seventh Seal and Thin Red Line (I'm sort of new to Criterion).

I changed my post to something more of a "douche". Hope this guy isn't faking to be Montel, because my mom has multiple sclerosis like Montel, and it's very sad to make fun of someone like that. I would call a person like that, a douche. Not someone that dislikes an f'n movie.

Now how do I go about having a mod change my name on here to SpiderBaby?
