Sweet just preordered all of the January releases through B&N's sale. Saved nearly 40 bucks over Amazon

Are you a fan of Patton? If so, ever check out his other side projects, Peeping Tom or Lovage?

I'm going to have to check out Fantômas as well...

I see there's a track listing for Charade, The Godfather, Rosemary's Baby, Night of the Hunter, and freaking Twin Peaks: FWWM!!

Thanks for throwing this out there!

I watched "Paths of Glory" for the third time since picking up the Blu-ray..... I really would like to watch the "Storming of the Hill" over and over.... but I'm the type who can't watch a snippet of a film.... I've gotta watch the whole thing!

I'm in Canada and I ordered 3 Criterions Blu-Rays from BN.com four days ago. The order showed, correctly, 2 movies at full price and 1 for free ($0). For some reason, I decided to cancel my order less than 10 minutes after ordering (a change of mind about one Criterion I wanted to replace with another) and canceled each item individually. First mistake...

The next morning, I received two e-mails from b&n stating that I couldn't cancel two of the items since they already entered the shipping process (Already? 10 minutes after ordering? Wow!). Okay, no big deal. I can live with these 3 Criterions...

But the hammer fell this morning! 3 days after ordering, I received a notice that my third item was successfully canceled! The FREE one!!! How convenient!

E-mail support...: Bla, bla, bla... We're too busy for you, please call us.

Phone support...: 25 minutes on hold (international long distance call, by the way) without being able to speak to anyone.

And then, a tought occured to me: Let's suppose someone order from them (doesn't cancel like I did) and B&N.com decide, for some obscure reason, to cancel an item that is supposedly "shipping in 24hrs" (like they did, many times during the last 50% sale), would the "3 for 2" promotion still applied or would that person pay full price for their 2 criterions? The answer frightens me...
Horror story. I know quite a few people that had a similar experience with B&N. Their customer service seems pretty shoddy.

Yes, a fan... and I own most, if not all, of his output that he's released through his label, Ipecac. I haven't kept up with much music lately as I used to do, but I did recently pick up Mike Patton's Mondo Cane release. I hope you've check out Tomahawk, as well.

The Director's Cut is the most straight-forward Fantômas album. Their other three albums each involve a different musical theme. You should, at least, enjoy this one particular album. Like you pointed out, it has songs from two films in The Criterion Collection.

Fantômas

Just saw the review for Robinson Cruseo On Mars, I haven't seen it in years so it will be very fun to see it once more on Blu-ray (I never got the DVD from 3 years ago for some reason I can't recall now)

I am also very happy about the new Fantomas movie (which is what everyone seem to be talking about) I completed the old silent serial during my Christmas vacation from Kino (been a while since I watched it). I do not recall much about the Fatomas of the 60's, I haven't seen or heard from them in a very long time (probably the 70's the last time I saw anything on that). Anyone as seen them?

Their customer service via email didn't even work after Christmas. They just always responded with an email saying they were too busy to look at your problem.

I'm pretty sure that italy12 and I are talking about the musical band Fantômas, P@t... not any film version.

it's an easy mistake though. The star of the film Fantomas is Jean Marais who also starred in The Beauty and the Beast (1946) and The Orphic Trilogy. Both of which are Criterion releases.

I'm glad you said that. I wanted to say you all can still post saying "CG" so it can still be short and I think people would know who that is for. If trouble, I can put one of those corny "still call me CG" sigs or something.

Do your research and see if this film is definitely for you. For me, it's like "Castaway" in Mars...substitute Wilson the volleyball with Mona the monkey and added in naked aliens who dress like Egyptians. Hehe...

Some classic sci-fi fans love it, some find it quite kitschy (remember, this came out years before "Star Trek").

It's enjoyable and it's probably the only film where you will see Adam West (pre-Batman) probably appear in a Criterion-related release.

I haven't seen "Fantomas" '60s but I do know that in a forum, there are people who have gotten confused over Fantomas vs. Judex (both had silent films and a '60s version). But in this case, I think they were discussing a rock band. Nevertheless, "Fantomas" silent is avail. from Kino and "Judex" silent is released by Flicker Alley and the '60s version is released by Masters of Cinema.

Where's the cheapest place to get Criterion titles in the UK? Barnes and Nobles are $90 for The 400 Blows + Seven Samurai + The Wages of Fear. Is that good? I see that it's 3 for 2

In general I think just ordering from Amazon U.S. would be your best bet for price.

I see the Fantomas band, never heard of them

I saw there was an announcement for a new Fantomas movie so I tought that was what everyone was talking about. I actually have the Fantomas silent from Kino, it's a great set if anyone is interested, the image quality is amazing when you stop and think it's a DVD and these movies are 100 years old by now.
