It's the same for me. If I were to rank them it would be something like this:
Great: The Life Aquatic (wish they would announce it on Blu) Nice: The Darjeeling Limited (got this one today) OK, but nothing remarkable, don't care to own them: The Royal Tenenbaums Bottle Rocket Rushmore Mildly annoying: Fantastic Mr Fox As for why this is I'm not sure, but I think Life Aquatic and Darjeeling are a bit more sane and emotional, whereas the other ones are filled with too much quirky randomness and characters you just want to punch in the face (like the guy in Rushmore.) I thought Mr Fox was too hyper and erratic, a bunch of disconnected shots stringed together with no flow. For example it would have characters running, stopping for two seconds to say something quirky, then start running again, then stopping for another couple of seconds to say something else quirky and totally unrelated, and the entire movie felt like that. Also there seemed to be little dialogue, everyone was just talking to themselves or making comments under their breath. |

It's not so much the violence in itself, but just throwing everything at the screen at once and making it as loud as possible does nothing for me, the action needs to have some real style and finesse to be able to hold my attention (like The Matrix, 300 or Taken) |

Oh man, I loved Fantastic Mr. Fox. I don't expect we'll see a criterion release (already a great blu out, plus Criterion isn't really known for its animation releases--stop or otherwise), but I would totally double-dip if they did.
I suppose the movie isn't perfect... but as someone who read (and loved) Roald Dahl's story as a kid, I thought the movie was a glorious adaptation, even if it didn't follow the book to a T. |

Rushmore, Royal Ts and Life Aquatic are good possibilities. |

It's fun to watch Rushmore because I like Murray, and enjoy seeing where Schwartzman got his start (some really despise him, but I don't). The same goes with Bottle Rocket and the Wilson bros. It's great to see these actors fit so perfectly in these roles where some of the other films they're in are just garbo. But I can't see Schwartzman in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World without thinking of Max Fischer, which ends up making me revisit Rushmore. I love Royal Tenenbaums simply for it's warm feel and generally unique story about the family coming together under the same roof for a reason unknown to them to be a lie from the conniving father, Gene Hackman. A great tragic comedy that, at least to me, encompasses Anderson's work as a genuinely unique film maker and story teller. It's funny because when I think of Gene Hackman I think of Tenenbaums; not French Connection, Unforgiven, nor Enemy of the State or whatever. I better stop drooling about Anderson before CG comes in here and gives his 2 cents. LOL! Last edited by aggienader08; 01-11-2011 at 04:56 PM. |

I thought Mr. Fox was funny, a movie I enjoy watching high.
![]() Anyway I watched most of Antichrist on Netflix last night at my friend's house on his shitty little RCA LCD that is all ****ed up... and it still looked pretty damn good! I'm sure the Blu-Ray will look great on my TV, I might have to buy it during the next CC sale. It's such a ****ed up movie though... |
