It's the same for me. If I were to rank them it would be something like this:

Great:
The Life Aquatic (wish they would announce it on Blu)

Nice:
The Darjeeling Limited (got this one today)

OK, but nothing remarkable, don't care to own them:
The Royal Tenenbaums
Bottle Rocket
Rushmore

Mildly annoying:
Fantastic Mr Fox

As for why this is I'm not sure, but I think Life Aquatic and Darjeeling are a bit more sane and emotional, whereas the other ones are filled with too much quirky randomness and characters you just want to punch in the face (like the guy in Rushmore.)

I thought Mr Fox was too hyper and erratic, a bunch of disconnected shots stringed together with no flow. For example it would have characters running, stopping for two seconds to say something quirky, then start running again, then stopping for another couple of seconds to say something else quirky and totally unrelated, and the entire movie felt like that. Also there seemed to be little dialogue, everyone was just talking to themselves or making comments under their breath.

I don't know about falling asleep, but I find explosions to be just about the most boring thing you can put in a film. As soon as there are more than a few seconds of explosions, crashing, flashing, fast shots, shaky cam, and bullets flying everywhere my interest stars to fade very quickly.

It's not so much the violence in itself, but just throwing everything at the screen at once and making it as loud as possible does nothing for me, the action needs to have some real style and finesse to be able to hold my attention (like The Matrix, 300 or Taken)

I think I might soon go region-free. The PS3 is a workhorse and love it for blu but when I see Region B reviews of Woody Allen films on Blu-ray I get terribly jealous!

Usually when people find out who I am -- they get themselves a wheelchair, a shyster lawyer and sue me for three-quarters of a million dollars.

I'm sitting here patiently waiting for "Robinson Crusoe On Mars" to show up..... I'm going to pop some popcorn tonight (or popping corn as you old-fellas call it ) and watch it with my son tonight..... I hope Mona keeps his interest in the story, but we'll see.

Oh man, I loved Fantastic Mr. Fox. I don't expect we'll see a criterion release (already a great blu out, plus Criterion isn't really known for its animation releases--stop or otherwise), but I would totally double-dip if they did.

I suppose the movie isn't perfect... but as someone who read (and loved) Roald Dahl's story as a kid, I thought the movie was a glorious adaptation, even if it didn't follow the book to a T.

Not a chance Criterion would release Mr. Fox.
Rushmore, Royal Ts and Life Aquatic are good possibilities.

I can't comment on Mr. Fox since I haven't seen it, but I would consider all of Anderson's films to be remarkably stellar across the board and equally appealing. I can't rank them, because I enjoy them all the same.

It's fun to watch Rushmore because I like Murray, and enjoy seeing where Schwartzman got his start (some really despise him, but I don't).

The same goes with Bottle Rocket and the Wilson bros.

It's great to see these actors fit so perfectly in these roles where some of the other films they're in are just garbo. But I can't see Schwartzman in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World without thinking of Max Fischer, which ends up making me revisit Rushmore.

I love Royal Tenenbaums simply for it's warm feel and generally unique story about the family coming together under the same roof for a reason unknown to them to be a lie from the conniving father, Gene Hackman. A great tragic comedy that, at least to me, encompasses Anderson's work as a genuinely unique film maker and story teller. It's funny because when I think of Gene Hackman I think of Tenenbaums; not French Connection, Unforgiven, nor Enemy of the State or whatever.

I better stop drooling about Anderson before CG comes in here and gives his 2 cents. LOL!

I thought Mr. Fox was funny, a movie I enjoy watching high.

Anyway I watched most of Antichrist on Netflix last night at my friend's house on his shitty little RCA LCD that is all ****ed up... and it still looked pretty damn good! I'm sure the Blu-Ray will look great on my TV, I might have to buy it during the next CC sale. It's such a ****ed up movie though...

Has anyone seen Raymond Bernard's "Wooden Crosses" From the Eclipse Series 4? If so, how is it in relation to historical accuracy, pq, and aq?

This is the first time in over a year that Criterion.com hasn't gotten me the pre-orders by release date. Bummer.
