I see......

I picked this up on Blu-ray, (UK) as it was one of the many Criterion DVDs I did not have....... I thoroughly enjoyed it (same with Katyn, Withnail and I, and pretty much every other Pro-B recommendation at this point!)

I've been over in the Dances with Wolves and Social Network threads. Sorry I just couldn't bare to look in here after those December announcements...

No, it never was. As soon as I saw on Criterion's site that they were cutting out some of the essays in the booklet, I figured it was because they were going plastic with this one. It's too bad, though, they couldn't keep the essays and do a digipack like Breathless with the thick booklet.

Well I didn't change my name to start fresh, but I hope it will be of use to know I'm not the be-all end-all of opinions on here (as shown with a couple of pages of Wes Anderson without me). Though if you don't like the heat, stay out of the kitchen and go play with your steelbooks.

Don't worry digipak fans like me, Sweet Smell of Success looks to be a digi. Though the Double Life is a bummer. The artwork was awesome for that. Oh well.

I watched Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence last night and was really impressed. Though it was more to the fact that it seemed Oshima was struggling with shooting this like a Hollywood picture and shooting it like a Japanese film.
[Show spoiler]The whole flashback sequence with the kids
was very awkward as far as cinematography was concerned. I don't know if he did this intentionally or if he was actually stuggling and trying to shoot specific English sequences as he thought the English would shoot such scenes.

As a typical POW movie I thought it was actually very weak, but I watched it for the culture clash aspects and enjoyed it a lot.

I think a lot of shipments are getting delayed because of the storms in the South. I know some people have had a hard time getting things from Amazon for that reason.

I went ahead and did a preorder for DOUBLE LIFE thru amazon since it is going to be a plastic case.

I love the paper case style like Breathless etc... but I can only buy those locally, too over cautious about recieving dented cardboard cases from amazon.

You won't be stupid for not knowing. Outside of kndy, Pro-B, and CC (who was going to get the film before my love for this was posted), I don't know anybody else who seen it or less heard about it. It's a Tinto Brass film called The Howl, which is prob one of my fav films right now. It's a surreal, funny, wacky, b-movie like, Godard's Weekend if Bunuel co-directed, fun film.

A quick fun fact, Tinto Brass was asked to direct A Clockwork Orange, but didn't do it. Instead he made this film, which as much as I love A Clockwork Orange, this is better.

Tina Aumont, the woman in my pic, is worth to watch this alone.

I wasn't saying that towards you. I usually mean the last sentence of stuff to anybody and everybody to whom it may concern.

Hopefully one of those others was The Social Network. Watched it today and it's amazing. Gonna watch Army of Shadows later.
