Hopefully by a "better place" you mean you sold them to people who will pay ludicrous amounts of money for them

"Dillinger is Dead" is due to arrive Thursday for me...... Looking forward to that.

EDIT:

and also.... in regards to "The Social Network" (I know I could probably read the thread designated to find out, but since it was brought up) I'm sure I could enjoy it on it's own.... but I don't have any social networking sites, never had accounts anywhere, and don't even know what "facebook" or "twitter" even look like..... I think the whole idea of it is so silly, I wonder if I will unintentionally force myself not to enjoy the film.

Either way, the wife (also anti-social-networking) wants to see it, so we'll netflix it.

Yes to District 9. Absolutely. The other one, not so much. But please, check out Fincher's latest at some point.

To rent or own? If there was a time where I have only one title to keep from the Criterion Collection, it would be either Dillinger or Made in USA. I'm weird.

Also, anybody ever heard of George Kuchar and where would you start?

One of the things that makes the movie so engaging, in my opinion, is that in many ways it isn't really about Facebook.

Own.

I added it to the netflix queue, my wife was looking at the queue, said "What's this?" and read it, and said "That looks good" then when I had the computer later that night, I removed it from the queue, and bought it

I think everyone in this thread should see The Social Network for two reasons:

1. Fincher's latest film and Fincher is a favorite of Criterion's or v.v.
2. Cover art designed my Neil Kellerhouse who is also very involved with Criterion. The packaging is a thing of beauty!

Edit: In reply to greek's post.

My thoughts exactly. There's a lot more going on in this film. It's just incredibly intelligent and entertaining.

I think this should lead into a discussion of Criterion babes. Who are some of the most beautiful women in CC films?

Off the top:

Audrey Hepburn, Anna Karina, Monica Vitti, Bibi Andersson, Moira Shearer, Ingrid Bergman, etc...

Bibi Andersson without a doubt. So fine.

I hope your wife likes slow burning films that has a big part of it watching Michel Piccoli watch home movies. I just wish more "never been released in the U.S." gems like this would come to Criterion (hence why my favs from the collection is Made in USA and this).

Btw, Marco Ferreri should be more known. Maybe if Criterion could get that boxset of films that has came out and put a C on it, people will see more.

Oh good one!

Of course this is as of the date of the film, not now:

Anna Karina in just about anything
[Show spoiler]

Cybill Shepherd
[Show spoiler]

Ellen Burstyn
[Show spoiler]

But my favorite:

Catherine Deneuve

My wife being Ukrainian makes it an easy sell, although she pronounces it "Anya" and she would want it spelled differently..... but nonetheless, if a third happened (due to circumstances beyond my control ) I think she'd owe it to me to pick a name..... she got the first two!

Jean Seberg and Charlotte Gainsbourg weren't too hard to look at either.

Deneuve is also one of my favourites. However currently I'm in love with Ingrid Thulin with the black hair from the Magician:
