Do they send an actual physical card? Or is it a digital card where $20 is dumped into your Amazon account?

Thanks!

No... I got the same thing in my email at 2am or so, saying "We'll send you an email" so I suspect sometime today I'll be getting the email.....

I wanted to get the code, and use it, then try to buy more (as to not get a cancellation) but I guess I can see why they do it this way

without turning this into a 2D vs. 3D discussion (there are other threads for that, but indie/arthouse are gonna be using 3-D no matter what so it's only a matter of time):

what do you think will be the first Criterion BD3D release?

I don't think that would be possible....... but I'll tell you this..... "I think 3D for the home will be a distant memory before Criterion ever considers releasing a movie in 3D"

The "Shady-deal-people" are reporting that those who bought 100's of them will either get one, or none... as they "broke the rules" more or less.

I ordered one, so we'll see...... I was reading (for more curiosity than anything) and there were people who bought (or tried perhaps) 500+ GCs each

EDIT:

The Social-living people (or whoever) are saying that the codes are "unique" and if you have more than one code somehow.... you better have more than one Amazon account, or you can't use it

Cool

http://boingboing.net/2010/04/14/wer...og-3d-doc.html
^stuff like that is happening. if the documentary/indie world is catching wind of 3-D, then it's here to stay. i don't think 3-D is a gimmick like it was in the 50s/60s. sooner or later it will happen. it's only a matter of time

so many skeptics though

Thanks for the update and the tip the other night. Serves people right for trying to break the rules. Power to the Criterion buyers.

Don't get me wrong..... I was going to break the rules like crazy.... I just wanted my first one to arrive and be redeemed "safely" before I tempted it...... but others just see "Free money....GO!" and ordered up a ton....

Reading the thread on that "other" forum is humorous (at 9,000 replies now though ) there are people who ordered over 500 GCs (all at $5 each nonetheless) who are holding out hope that their $10,000 + worth of AMZ GCs will be honored, and then.... Redeemable! Imagine if it is in fact one unique code per Amazon account.... and they did in fact get $10,000 worth of them..... you could never create that many amazon accounts before they figured it out and blocked your I.P., emails, physical address, etc....

They are different....

The Third Man (for instance) ends with 03412 or something like that, for the Digi..... and 0338 for the plastic.

As to "Chungking Express," I am inclined to think it is due to some kind of printing backorder issue.

I emailed Jon about my "Le Samorai" DVD missing the booklet, that I had ordered from Amazon. Amazon had taken down the "under review" notice and stopped offering it. He informed me that the booklet was on backorder and he would ship one out to me, once they got them in stock. It could be something along those lines with "Chungking Express."

It is sad to see several sellers on Amazon and elsewhere claiming the title is OOP, to try and get sales. I imagine a lot of people are being duped.

Speaking of out of print, I wish we had a dedicated thread for it on the main North American board so we can keep track of all releases, CC or not. I noticed this thread:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-mo...ie-thread.html

Too bad it has not been updated in many months. It should be just for regular release though, not steelbooks. Ironically, I saw someone mention that the classic "Point Break" is OOP. Thankfully, I still have my copy, as my Keanu fix is needed once a year.

DVDBeaver has some screenshots up of the Criterion "Double Life Of Veronique" Blu. Artificial Eye released an amazing Blu of this last year in the UK. The Criterion transfer looks a little more grainy, but not much different otherwise. The Criterion has a lower bitrate but a few more extras than the Artificial Eye. Overall looks to be about a draw to me.

It looks like the review/comparison is still being worked on since there isn't any accompanying text, yet, for the Criterion blu-ray.

The bit rates are quite a bit different, though..

Artificial Eye
Feature Size: 32,652,013,698 bytes
Average Bitrate: 31.4 Mbps

Criterion
Feature Size: 22,438,490,112 bytes
Average Bitrate: 24.48 Mbps
