No, and I wouldn't expect them to ever get the rights back to it.... not sure if they would even try at this point... I'm sure it'd be pricey, and it's already out for sale.

Well, if the rights to the movie still belong to MGM, you never know. I have no clue if that's the case, but it would be great. But if Sony would release a version of it, it could be very good, too.

Neither RCN or Verizon FIOS offer the HD version (at least not the last time I checked).
I'm with you there. I'd rather have all the movie channels and would gladly give up channels like ESPN (Worthless).

Yes, Sir Beta...the item will be "dispatched" from your "basket" and not "sent" from your "cart".

I'm all but done with IFC. They have commercials now, even during their movies.

Yes indeed italy! From the album "Obscured by Clouds". Which is also the soundtrack from the film "The Valley" (La vallee) by director Barbet Schroeder.

It's being released by BFI on blu-ray next week, for those interested.

BTW...it's region free.

my amazon gift card (for $25) just showed up and after much thought i decided i really wanted Last Year at Marienbad NOW and not when the next B&N sale is. loved it when i first saw it a few months ago, and eager to go through and (try to) follow it again.

$8 out of my pocket felt great for a brand new Criterion

cannot wait to show it to some friends who are trying to (finally) branch out and watch stuff other than standard hollywood blockbusters and whatnot.

Speaking of tv...

TCM is having their '31 Days of Oscar' thing this month and there are a few good preview opportunities.

2/12
4:00 PM Stagecoach (1939)

2/15
6:30 AM Au Revoir, Les Enfants (1987)
8:15 AM Last Metro, The (1980)
10:30 AM Black Orpheus (1959)

2/20
3:15 PM Third Man, The (1949)

2/24
3:30 AM Amarcord (1973)
6:00 AM 8 1/2 (1963)

There's a lot of other interesting stuff too. In addition to standbys like The Maltese Falcon and Casablanca they've also got stuff like Executive Suite, Room at the Top and Close-up scheculed.

(oh, times are EST)

I'm beginning to think that you're now employed by BFI, rkish.

(If I've stolen anyone's avatar let me know and I'll change)

She's great. The Unbearable Lightness of Being needs to get the BD treatment. Maybe Criterion will get the rights again.

And I have you to blame CC...thanks for suggesting the Momitsu!

(to attempt to keep this on topic)...watching Criterion's Ozus is what prompted me to start buying BFI titles.

And it only took MoC releasing La Planete Sauvage as a region B to prompt me to buy a region free player...

The rest is history!

Didn't realize, but goes to show how often I'm tempted by a SD title from them, particularly a widescreen one. (Just deleted Carlos unwatched to make room on the dvr, since Criterion's supposedly coming out with this pretty soon.)

Kind of what I don't like about Universal HD, that and that they censor out the cuss words. (And I suspect they make cuts too to squeeze a movie into a 2hr time slot, but haven't bothered to verify, and I would guess since I'm rambling on they probably snip out any nudity as well.)

Don't ask why am I on this board. The FAB over Criterion blu-ray is lame (not everyone), to the point of collecting just to collect them. I see the people on here that buys them because it's something to collect and end up on the sales thread un-open because they never really wanted them in the first place. There are people that starts slipcover threads on here. SLIPCOVER THREADS! Let that sink in for a min. Don't act like I'm a troll or spammer or whatever because I replied to someones' boner for a C release, when what matters should be the film. I don't care what my "Rep" is on here, and others can keep posting youtube links with 3 Stooges songs, because that is your waste of time. I should be doing the 3 Stooges song to every thread that has a "Got EM!" or "SLIPCOVER FANS '11" or "What is your fav boobshot?" or "Packages is what I buy, not films. I'm sending this purchase back!" crap.

Now you all got something to chew on tonight. Make it good. Tell me how much I am a troll and I hate on people even though I'm replying towards the same crap of what you will all say I am. This rant is either what you all wanted anyways or it's getting in the way of collections posts and if a film arrived in "mint condish!". Either way, it's something to hate SB/CG about.
Even though I am fairly anal about the condition of my films, you are my new hero for saying that. I just like to take good care of my stuff. But many on here are unreasonable, and don't even seem like they really enjoy the films at all.

That is one I haven't seen yet, and recently bought it on Amazon. They still had a few in stock. Looking forward to watching it tomorrow.

Yeppers... see "Cold Mountain" on Universal HD for proof.
