Criterion's FB page:

Quote:
We will be announcing new Blu-ray and DVD editions of Solaris as part of our May lineup. We now know that the black-and-white scenes in the film were meant to be tinted blue, and we have updated the feature accordingly. The supplements from the original DVD will not change.

The old DVD edition is officially out of print. However, we are offering it at a 65% discount from the SRP at criterion.com (use the promotion code RHEYA at checkout). We have a limited supply and will fulfill orders as soon as we can.

It's amazing that many people don't seem to read previous posts before posting the same information.

Are you saying you don't already have the F&L Blu-ray??? You should at least wait for reviews, etc.... to make up your mind at this point.

If you have the BBS Copy of Easy Rider, stick with it..... The other is a fine release, but nothing that would make me think I'll ever watch it again now that I have the version in the BBS set.

People are lazy..... By the way... have you heard anything regarding the chances of Criterion releasing "Solaris" on Blu-ray?? I heard they hinted it with some drawing of some sort.... I'll have to find a link......

Quick question off topic:
I have both the clear cover and cardboard copy of The Third Man and i want to give one of them to my brother. Which one is more "rare" or valuable or are they the same? Thanx

If you're thinking one will become "Valuable" I'd keep the cardboard.... afterall, you can just email Criterion, and get another plastic case.... if you want another Cardboard one, you're gonna have to hit Ebay etc....

EDIT:

Why do you have 2 to begin with??? Most people who got more than 1 had the intention of making money off of the poor souls who missed out.

Which would you rather have in your collection? Plastic or cardboard? That should answer your question.

I think the 2nd production run in the plastic case was smaller, though, than the first printing in cardboard.

You know what's funny? Timing. It's really quite hilarious. I mean, I can literally be right in the middle of typing something in order to post it, and if someone else starts a tad bit sooner, unless I hit submit first, his will appear first. Of course, as I'm typing mine still, his has just posted, and...well, you know the rest...people start whining...

I'm seriously kidding, but seriously is the key word.

BTW, where have you been the last few weeks/days??

Uhhhh, MFSL itself may be "end of life" for the most part, but I don't think vinyl albums are QUITE there yet. Though I'm not one of them, there's still enough audiophiles who insist vinyl sounds better to support premium-priced vinyl releases of many albums. There's even a vinyl page at Amazon.

Working... just like every Monday through Friday. I've just been busier lately and not sitting at the computer at work all day. Along with reading a lot about Pink Floyd, I've been quietly watching everyone else take over the thread.

To catch up on the day,

Pink Floyd without Syd Barrett = something I don't care for.

Solaris announcement = um, sure.
