Anyone here ever see it? I barely see it mentioned (out of the 550+ CC films).
Seen it, own it, love it!

You probably don't see much talk about many of the Criterion DVDs simply because this is a blu-ray specific website.

I'll take that as high praise!

Just added to NetFlix rental queue and will check out in about a week. Got another Ozu in mind for the coming weekend.

Tokyo-Ga coming for tomorrow.

Yea, I liked it too...didn't realize the release date on this film until after I saw it. While I was watching it, I was trying to figure out if it was before Clockwork or after...

But you have to agree that there is a fair amount of DVD talk here, as well as non-Criterion and Pink Floyd discussion that doesn't always fit the "Criterion Blu ray" nature of this thread.

I do wish they announce Children of Paradise soon. That would be a real treat.

I'm still trying to knock out my B&N sale purchases, as I've hit a bit of a stalling point. Over the weekend, I was trying to decide whether I should watch Paris, Texas or Black Orpheus. 2 EXTREMELY different movies, I couldn't decide, and eventually I wasn't able to watch either. So, being that these are the 2 movies I plan to choose between the next time that I'm able to watch something, which would you fine folks here recommend as the better option of the 2?

I saw it several years ago. A fascinating film with its use of B/W and Color. Although, I've heard from some the use of b/w merely had to do with budget restraints.

I was trying to figure out what was significant about the black and white scenes and for the life of me, I couldn't!

Oh, I know. I was just saying...

There are probably hundreds of titles that haven't even been mentioned once. And, since it is a "BD-themed thread", the chances of a lot of these DVD-only titles being mentioned is pretty slim. But I still like to give credit where credit is due with good films in the CC catalogue.

Paris, Texas would be the obvious chouice for some based on how much love it gets on these boards. Of course, it is a great film, so there's that...

Black Orpheus, on the other hand, was really good as well. I got a chance to finally see that last month or so after owning it for a while, and I enjoyed it. It's fun, tells a great story, is entertaining, and very easy to follow.

Can't go wrong with either!

That would make perfect sense to me, jcs. You and I, and ten others, would greatly appreciate it.

I've wanted to see that one for quite some time...due to its contraversial nature. It'd be nice on Blu ray. I looked for the DVD on Blockbuster online and no dice.

Makes sense with the Valentine's Day theme...if they went with Picnic at Hanging Rock as well...

Just watched that last night (not sure if that's why you bring it up...I mentioned it a page ago) and enjoyed it. The DVD looked nice, but I could see a BD release sitting nicely on my shelf.
