I feel like I've seen the Great Dictator image somewhere before. I though it might have been one Sam's Myth's rejected process images from Great Dictator. Does anybody know where I might have seen it?

I'm actually really happy with this month. I'll have to give Solaris another watch, but I'm very excited about Diabolique, Fat Girl, Something Wild, The Great Dictator, and Pale Flower.

Another good month in my opinion. Diabolique, Solaris, The Great Dictator, Pale Flower, and Bergman for me.

All of the Bergman fans should already own the film on DVD. I see lots of people across the internet talking about it like it's a new addition to the collection, which is far from the truth.

I'm a newly found Bergman fan, so I have an excuse And I just check the spine numbers to determine whether they are new additions to the Criterion Collection or not

It's hard to believe they picked this film over all his other classics. This is one of his worst films IMHO.

I suggest you try to get rid of it ASAP. The Blu-ray of Repulsion is excellent and Catherine Deneuve in HD is a marvel to behold.

But it is a landmark film; it made him a star. I do understand why they chose this one above the other films: it's older and the quicker you preserve it, the less damage and digital restoration is less needed.

I have to disagree. It has all of the makings as one of the "classic" great Bergman films.

I'm currently in the process of going through Bergman's filmography of the films that I personally have available, including his screenplays directed by others, which totals about 33 or so films to watch/rewatch. That's why I'm sorely hoping for another Bergman Eclipse set with the films I mentioned previously in another thread that aren't available in either the UK or USA. I find it difficult to order the four films (It Rains On Our Love, A Ship To India, Dreams, and Brink Of Life) @ $30 each from Australia.

Diabolique is one of my favorites and is a must own, especially with the fantastic cover art!! Another fantastic Bergman, as I predicted, but not the one I thought, so what a nice surprise.

If I don't have nothing nice to say, I won't say anything. Though I can help by saying, most of you are big babys. Smiles of a Summer Night (Get the title right) is one of a few Bergmans I like. I won't be upgrading since I don't upgrade everything, so this month is yet again (something positive to say) a money rebuilder. Thanks Criterion!

From what I've heard, it was either "Something Wild" or "The Last Movie" for May's announcement and whichever title didn't make for May was going to have to wait until sometime in 2013.

some people have serious issues if they don't like the choice of "Smiles of a Summer Night".
Hopefully Criterion will upgrade EVERY Bergman they have to blu, and this one is one of those.
simple as that.
then they can get the rights from MGM to Persona and the others while they're at it.
Bergman is AMAZING.

Well knowing Criterion's recent track record, I don't expect anything great anytime soon (not counting upgrades which we all love to re-spend money on because it's safe.).
