No problemo. By the way, that sale goes on for more than just Black Friday. When I checked my email for the order, it said that it was from November 16th, which was a full 14 days (2 weeks) before Black Friday. Be on the lookout in the "Bargains" forum here in early to mid November and I am sure people will be talking about the sale.

Most appreciated. My birthday is in November, so I might not even have to buy any of the movies I want, haha. No matter what I tell my folks, they still like buying me birthday "gifts." If my mom can't wrap it, she doesn't want to get it for me.

Do you guys put the Criterion movies apart from the other movies in your shelves ?

I'm thinking it would look good but not sure if I can find a logic behind this choice.

I don't. I put all my movies in alphabetical order. I don't have any Criterion Blus yet. But I will

Alpha order except the Bonds as I use a custom cover set. I even ace the clear plastic case and put my Criterion's in Blu cases. Gotta stay uniform.

Yes, I have a criterion, anime, import, seasons, and regular blu-ray sections. Much easier to find what I am looking for

I always keep my Criterions and MOC BDs separate from the rest of the collection which I generally do by genre and/or director depending which I prefer. The Criterions and MOCs are both numbered and packed similarly so they look very good together.

I group the Criterion movies together, and have other "sections" too, like Music/Animated/Documentary together, then 80's, Sci-Fi, Classics, and popcorn flicks.....

I started doing this very recently, and did it for my DVDs too..... My DVDs may just sit on the floor, but it's still easier to find them this way..... when I'm in the mood for a concert/music DVD, there are over 100 of them together, so it's much easier to find them compared to the way I had them before.....

My criterion DVDs were always separate though.... they take up one of the "small walls" in my room right now....

I wonder how many of you collect Criterion though just because it's Criterion? Would you buy a Criterion just to "have" it even if you didnt like it? I have never met anyone that has actually liked all the criterion releases...not one.
I am just curious.....

blasphemer! criterion has different cases so that people can tell that they are different and a cut above the rest, and you go and ruin it!

I ordered The Sevent Seal today, cannot wait to have it and watch it. The review for it is amazing and I have not watch the movie in quite sometime, maybe 15 years or so, the early 90's at the very least.

I do, if the price is right, or I have a gift card to somewhere that sells Criterions. I've been trying to cut back on the DVDs, but sometimes you just can't...

Hey has anyone watched "The Human Condition"? I'm becoming more and more tempted to buy it even though it's only on DVD. That whole 9.5hour running time though, geesh, that's like a whole day project.
There's a new article in the Current on Criterion's website that peaked my intrest a little more.

The trasfer is truely stunning. I've watched it twice in the past month, and am planning on watching it again with commentary soon. You shouldn't be disappointed. Not quite as strong as "The Third Man" transfer-wise, but a huge improvment over DVD releases I've been told.

I enjoy some of them personaly. It's in this collection that you will find movies that won't be release in any other fashion. They also do a wonderful restoration work on the movies. It would be so difficult to have movie like Sergei Eisenstein The Battleship Potemkin or Alexander Nevsky otherwise. They are not movies that are well known by the public and so will not get a wide release.

I know many buy Criterion release out of curiosity, to see different type of movies that you will be able to find at Best Buy Of course I am sometimes a bit suprise by what goes on Criterion listing but c'est la vie

zedd 117, I am also very interested in The Human Condition! However, I can not yet justify paying that much for a DVD...

I do not fall into that category. Its quite illogical to claim to like every release from Criterion. I have a few friends who have the entire DVD collection and a good portion of the laserdisc library and I always eff with them for just buying anything with criterion printed on the box.

That being said, criterion generally picks quality films and presents them well so they are different than liking a studio like Fox or Columbia.

But I also think people who hvave 500 BDs and counting are absurd and have no taste and/or too much time and money on their hands.

I hear ya man, I'm hoping it'll grace the shelves of my local used shop for my impending purchase. Patience is a virture of us thrifty collectors.
