Hopefully, it will be in good shape. A nice price for an OOP. I paid $35 for the copy I got a few weeks ago.

I am working on getting "Billy Liar" next. Hard to find at a good price and in excellent condition.

yes. yes, I was. Complaining about the plastic because of all the cardboard hate, I was. Never tried to return them because of markings, I did not.

but with your cardboard smashing,
Being Sacastic, I was.

Me neither.

Keep in mind "damaged" in this thread could mean one small scratch.

Finally someone gets it. I was being sarcastic as in I know "damaged" means scratched in this forum, hence why I kept using "movies" instead of packages, just to see if someone would respond knowing what I meant.

Oh, I know you were...

And I'm not returning anything...but what I will do is email the nice folks over at Criterion to see if they will sell me a replacement case. I know they won't accept money, but I feel bad asking. That's just me.

My buddy here at work ordered SSoS and claims the book smells like new money. I agree, it's quite strong.

Although, let's not get carried away and discuss packaging scents. This thread already has its hands full with packaging and sticker fetishists.

I'm going to be really pissed if B&N doesn't get SSoS here before the book stops smelling.

I think this thread is still going strong even if the dicussion is not always about the movies at least the way I see it.

Go and have a look at the Star Wars thread these days. Today they even started comparing the OT and prequels to women. Even me I to go at that conversation

You're alright with me P@t_Mtl. Anyone that likes Hepburn can't be bad.

BTW do you own the Hepburn treasures book? Very cool stuff.

Is Criterion ever going to release Gigli? It was a very important film.

I just checked my order on Amazon for Sweet Smell of Success. I added a package of nylon washers for 22 cents to get over the $25 for free shipping. Amazon has my order divided into 2 shipments; one the movie and the other the 22 cent nylon washers.

I wish they had a button to say, "Just charge me for the 22 cent washers, but don't ship them." It could be the "be nice to the environment" button!

Just watched my new copy of Sweet Smell of Success and wrote the first review for the release on this site (beating the official review in fact ). SSoS is a second-tier classic film-noir in my opinion that very much retains the soul of a B-movie while boasting an A-level cast and script. Its black-and-white photography looks very, very good but is not quite the best I've ever seen. The Criterion release of this film is simply astounding, and this is one of the best looking films I've watched on Blu-Ray. I really give it a strong recommendation to all lovers of classic cinema. I'm so happy just to receive any film-noir on Blu-Ray but this is a very good one presented very well.

I give the film an 8/10, the PQ a 10/10, the AQ a 9/10, and the overall package a 10/10.

The cover-art is........

since when did this thread start discussing the actual films again?

And on the subject of that film...... The Burt Lancaster love is very justified, but Tony Curtis is not to be overlooked...... "ENERGY"
