I will def keep an eye out, as i am in the same boat as you. Hehe.

I'm trying desperately to not purchase ANY of the Ozu DVDs from Criterion and just stick with the BFI blus for now.

As Criterion seems to be taking their time with releasing ANY Ozu BDs, I might weaken and pick up the Tokyo Story DVD set, as it has a 2 hour doc on Ozu.

What are your thoughts on these titles?
8 1/2 is an exceptional film and is highly entertaining. I love it.

Army of Shadows is one of the most tense films I've ever seen and is among my all-time favorites.

Wages of Fear is a film that on paper, I should've loved. I like the director and the plot seemed great. But I gave the film 2 1/2 (out of 4) stars and thought it was just decent. The reason was that the film is all about creating tension in having you wonder if the trucks will explode. Sounds good right? It is, until you consider that none of the characters are even remotely likeable. This was actually done on purpose, btw, according to Clouzot.

Totally unrelated: Love your icon. I can only dream of Criterion releasing The Fountain on Blu

Thank you very much. I'm much more of a classic and foreign film guy, but the Fountain remains my favorite film. I'd love to see it get a Criterion release as well, but I def don't see it happening. I think Pi has a better shot at that, although I personally despise the movie.

I wasn't sure if I would be able to, but I did just get in on the sale in the last half-hour. Which basically meant that by that point that all the new stuff I was looking to acquire was already out of stock. Still, there were older releases I had yet to pick up which I took advantage of. Actually blew quite a bit of $$$ as I grabbed Gomorrah, Crumb, The Complete Monterey Pop Festival, Howards End, Summer Hours, Ride with the Devil, Close-Up, and The Secret of the Grain.

I just ended up getting Story of a Prostitute. For some reason that title is unavailable on B&N so I always miss out on it through their sales.

Just for fun, I put all of the blus in my cart to see which ones where out of stock (after which, from said cart I promptly removed). Here they are:

The 400 Blows
8 1/2
America Lost and Found: The BBS Story
Armarcord
Army of Shadows
Broadcast News
Cronos
Chungking Express
Days of Heaven
The Double Life of Veronique
Fishtank
House
The Leopard
M
The Night of the Hunter
Paris, Texas
Paths of Glory
The Red Shoes
Senso
Seven Samurai
The Seventh Seal
Shock Corridor
Stagecoach
Still Walking
Sweet Smell of Success
The Thin Red Line
Videodrome
Vivre sa Vie
Yojimbo/Sanjuro Box Set

Glad I put in another order this morning for The Leopard and 400 Blows a half-hour before the sale ended, as those both went out (and you can't beat The Leopard for <$25). I got Double Life in my order last night (along with Walkabout and The Last Metro), which also went out.

I just got a shipping mail too and I have to say, if this is their way of testing the 'cut out the middleman' waters I hope they liked what they saw.

I enjoyed the B&N sale (and with gaming the various coupons titles were definitely cheaper) but even with Criterion's website zoning in and out this was pretty freaking easy.

How long did it take for shipping confirmation. I ordered America Lost and Found as well as Senso. Placed the order before the former was backordered and the latter was out of stock, yet still no shipping. I hope I don't have to wait until 12, March.

I kind of had too much to drink last night and went a little nuts with the sale. This happens sometimes.

I bought...

Days of Heaven
Paths of Glory
The Night of the Hunter
Yojimbo/Sanjuro Box Set
America Lost and Found: The BBS Story
Also a Criterion cap.

It came out to $175.

Someone assure me that these are all great purchases haha.

I placed my first order at 8:36 or so. I was hoping mine would get shipped today. Oh, well.

So they have already charged me for everything, does that mean I'll be getting everything I ordered?
