And for being loyal to the Criterion sale even if you were a little tipsy, Criterion will also be sending you a free pair of Ginsu knives.

Beta, I got my shipping conf. too for the released ones, but none of the titles came up at the $16 price, only the pre-orders did. Who says they got already released titles for $16??? That is the first I heard of that.

I believe he is referring to pre-order pricing from his order last night.

I figured that, but those will not ship nor will he be charged till his 1st ship date. His tone sounded like he thought others may have gotten current releases for $16.

I see there are a lot of auctions for The Hidden Fortress on ebay. Are there any rumors on this film getting a blu-ray release?

Who here has the Criterion release of "Spartacus," as well as the BD release? If you have both, what are your comparison thoughts as to PQ and AQ? I ordered the Criterion release last night, as I wasn't thrilled with the BD release.

Still waiting on shipping confirmation for Chungking Express and America BBS, which I purchased for $15.98 and $49.98 respectively.

A few people were able to purchase both preorders and in-stock movies for 50% off Criterion's sale price.

Man, I thought I was quick with my order. The price had already been 19.95 within minutes. You must have had one of the first orders?

I almost added a couple $12 DVDs but not really being able to afford it I just went with the $15.98 pre-order. Ten minutes after I'd placed it, I was unable to replicate the order at that price.
I know pre-orders came out to $16 for a little while, I got 11 at that price. What china was saying is he got a current release for $16 during the sale, which I or others did not see happen. Any current release I put in the cart came out to $20 and I got my order in right away.

Of course that didn't stop them doing Stagecoach, or Eureka/Kino from doing Metropolis, so who knows.
BFI used Criterion's transfer of "There Was a Father" and granted, it has it's share of damage, but the BFI BD version is clearly superior to the Crtiterion DVD version.

Just watched Bertolucci's "Dreamers". Interesting film, can't find any info about a blu release (by any company). Anybody know of one?

I have both.....

The Criterion DVD has much less "issues" with resolution, but the color of the BD is certainly nice..... I think it's a wash as far as what your personal preference is.....

Bottom line though..... the BD certainly wasn't a good effort

They sort of missed their window of opportunity for high sales had they released it at the same time as Casino Royale
