I've wanted to get the Cassavetes boxset for a longtime but now I think I'll just wait for a BD release. It can't be THAT far away, right?

I feel like since its such a huge release AND all of the films in the set stream in HD on netflix (and look as beautiful as they can), a blu reissue can't be far off. I hope so, I love those films.

Was it you that posted that Criterion had Weekend awhile back?

I happen to be one of the people who still thinks that film is one of the best currently available Blu-rays from Criterion, and even I would have a hard time watching it (given the pacing) at 2:45am !

Yeah, it gets to some very good places but it definitely takes its time getting there.

They pretty much confirmed on facebook last year of it, that it would be a year away. Hopefully that means Fall of this year or end of summer if lucky. I can't wait to see this on blu-ray, with the New Yorker disc the only thing I can go by as of now. And maybe after Weekend, they can finally start on his later periods (of course they can go back to the 60's with Les Carabiniers and Le Petit Soldat since Rialto will be releasing them soon).

So during the recent sale I ordered Days of Heaven, Night of the Hunter, Paths of Glory, Sanjuro/Yojimbo Boxset, America: Lost & Found Boxset and a Criterion cap, just for good measure and why not?

Never got a shipment notice and only found out my package had shipped because I checked their site and saw that it was scheduled to be delivered on Friday (today). Well, they sent me an email on Thursday stating maybe all my stuff didn't get shipped but didn't tell me what did and what didn't. I figured everything probably did get shipped.

I get my package today and you know what it contained?

A HAT.

That's all.

lol.

Beta...just joined the club! I just bought a used PANASONIC DMP-BDT300 for $199.99 plus $10 shipping on EBay. Seller said it was recently purchased, so it probably hasn't seen too much use. 7.1 analog outs and the NetFlix streaming capabilities that I wanted. Seller is only 75 miles away and has a money refunded policy, so it looked like a safe bet!

I wanted another player that would continue with the FW updates as well, as I'm not sure whether or not my current Panny BD55 will be seeing any more updates.

I read some very good things about your Sammy player. ENJOY it!

I'm just noticing a rather loud buzzing sound from the back of my Panasonic Plasma. I noticed it when I recently watched Days of Heaven. Uh oh.

Anyways...

How loud? Can you hear it with the volume up?

Try moving the plasma away from the wall.

Try turning down the contrast.

It's pretty loud. When I was watching the film, it would go quiet on some parts, then back up when the film moved to a different scene. But Days of Heaven is a pretty quiet film in itself so I dunno. I just don't remember it being this noticeable since I got it a few months back. You can't really hear it with the volume turned up pretty loud, but it's still pretty inconvenient that I would have to do that. I'll call Best Buy this week when I come home from college and talk to them. I do have a warranty on it, so, we'll see.

Does it happen during bright scenes and goes quiet during dark scenes?

Yeah, usually, I think. I'm not around the TV right now so I can't confirm. I just know the buzzing went low, and then the camera changed on the film and it went back to being a consistent loud buzzing.

sounds like your set is not good enough to watch that film, should have gotten a Pioneer when they were still around...

Shot in the dark, as Jon didn't have any...

I'm looking for spare booklets from:
The Third Man
The Man who Fell to Earth

I'd like to keep a mint copy, and I tend to always break out the books when I watch the movies- hence the search. I'd like a 'usable' copy of each.

Figured best chance would be a single post here in lieu of the trading forum.
