But they did make the film right? So why not put "Directed by"? The f'n "C" logo is bigger than the director's name on the cover, yet we are complaining about the filmmaker's name on the front? And if the director wasn't on the front, I have no doubt that some people would say "Criterion films- films made by Criterion". I don't understand this anger about director's names, but hey, I'm someone who thinks the "pretentious" word is useless in film. The "pretentious" artwork of Criterion trying to be hip by making artwork that has nothing to do with the films is worse.

BTW, I like the Ess. Arthouse covers more than the mainline ones most of the time. Just slap a b&W screenshot of the film with white leters and it is fine with me.

I'm glad to hear it! Since mine are all "Grouped" I don't expect my order (in four parts) to arrive until the end of the next 4 months.

The director's name should be on it. The "a film by" portion seems overused. It has nothing to do with the director. It has everything to do with how Criterion has been presenting their titles as of late. Some of the new artwork is hit or miss.

That's what mine says too, but they're notorious for delivering before release date, so I expect them to SHIP by the 26th or so.

I think that goes without saying for most documentaries, though.

I don't buy every single Criterion but I just ordered For All Mankind a couple days ago. It was something of an impulse buy and I have no idea what kind of replay value it will have but I don't see any reason documentaries should be immune to the same 'eh, what the hell' purchasing impulses as everything else.

I think more people will snag this than you think.

Time to create an account at the Criterion forum so I can work out a trade for some of the DVDs I've been trying to acquire for a couple of years!
