Has anybody tried Hulu Plus yet?

How does it compare to Netflix (so-called) HD streaming?

It sounds like there are several things down the road that I'd like to check out but wouldn't necessarily want to own.

Hmm I was expecting a Paramount Roeg title ever since they began to license Paramount titles. I hope I don't ruin the fun of tomorrow's announcements. In fact wasn't last months Criterion Casts trailers way off last month? Can't recall.

I usually avoid this page on new announcement day until the titles get posted.

As a big fan of Wong Kar-Wai, I blind-bought Chungking Express. In fact, I think it was one of the first Criterion blu-rays I bought.
So glad I did. A truly delightful film.
Faye Wong is wonderful and I always love watching Tony Leung.

Interesting list...what is your source?

Also, does anyone else find it annoying that the email updates you get if you subscribe to threads show what is in spoilers without showing the spoiler tag? It defeats the purpose of using spoilers

The following email was in my inbox this morning from Amazon.com:

"Our records indicate you recently purchased Topsy-Turvy (The Criterion Collection) [Blu-ray]. We wanted to let you know that the release date for this item has changed. We now estimate this item will be released on 4/12/2011. We're sorry if this delay causes any inconvenience."

Anyone else get this? Checked the Criterion website and didn't see anything about a release date delay. If there are a lot of pre-orders ahead of me that depleted their anticipated stock and I got bumped to later, I would think the email would not have said there was a release date change.

Things really are topsy-turvy.

Edit: Just realized it says "estimate this item will be released on 4/12/11" so maybe it is a stock issue. Confusing way to say it if that is the case, in my opinion.

I got that too....
I also got that for The Mikado, The times of Harvey Milk and Awakenings. All of them were delayed for a week. Oh well...

As for the wishes for the June titles, as always I hope for Children of Paradise. I won't rest till it's released!

You can find all of those titles listed on Criterion's site under various Explore pages. You'll find one if you search for Ralph Meeker, three titles if you search for Amedeo Nazzari, and so on. Criterion didn't hide the announcements very well by including placeholders on the Explore pages of directors, cinematographers, producers, etc.

I like the idea they were going with, seeing as the story revolves around a crime that occurred in an apartment complex near a train etc...
I hope they don't go with someone like that mock cover--- it's terrible. It's a a poor Seven Samurai derivative and it doesn't fit Lumet's film nor does it fit 1950's Hollywood.

I really hope this 'minimalist' poster design craze is just about done.

I've seen some great designs in this style, but everyone and their Grandmothers have been copying it.

At this point that seems to be the only mystery. I would think so, given that I can't think of any month that didn't include any upgrades.

So that cover makes absolutely no sense to you??

Or should I be detecting sarcasm at the obvious-ness of it?

I am most positive it won't be announced for July, but isn't it time some Jacques Demy was released? The Umbrellas of Cherbourg would be a nice addition to the CC. I have the French edition of The Young Girls of Rochefort and it's something to drool over.
