If you ask, I think you might be able to buy it from Criterion for the regular $5 fee. They keep extra inserts and slipcovers lying around their NY offices, so I imagine that they would be able to pair it up with one of the plastic cases for the "replacement case" offer.

Or, send it back to the Amazon Marketplace seller. I have an extra Criterion case that I'll sell to you for $500... no "Gomorrah" booklet, though.

The only two movies that I absolutely want to be upgraded to Blu are The Passion of Joan of Arc and The Lady Vanishes.

+1 My favorite silent movie, cinematographically speaking, and one of a handful of Hitchcocks I really like.

Please give me your 10 most wanted Criterion Blu-rays. Selections may be new spines or catalog upgrades.

-don't list anything that's been announced or confirmed
-please refrain from listing titles that don't have a chance (ie The Dark Knight or There Will Be Blood).

After I have enough responses then I'll compile a 10-Most wanted Blu-rays from posters in this thread. Hey, I think Criterion reads this forum!

The Apartment seems a little too high profile to be farmed out (though that would be great).

The Fortune Cookie, on the other hand...they might be able to snag that.

I didn't see the directions, I just saw other people's lists and followed suit. Please accept my humble apology. Try not to get too upset over something so...minor.

I think I'll let the voting go to the end of the week (and maybe more) before compiling.

Btw isn't Badlands Warner Bros? If so it's never happening on Criterion.

Is there some specific reason Warner is completely off limits or is it a general 'they never license their stuff' observation?

Warner doesn't licence their titles but there has been some talk that Criterion might be able to get Badlands with Terrence Malick's help.

Criterion made a deal with Warner and Fox at about the same time, although we have only seen Fox titles thus far.

Quote:
Tonight, Criterion Collection exec. producer Kim Hendrickson spoke at the Wexner Center in Columbus, OH, as part of a "DVD release party" for Simon of the Desert. Hendrickson confirmed several releases for the coming year (none of which are really surprising, but still cool to hear straight from someone inside CC)...

...Furthermore, she said they’d love to do more Linklater and more Malick since they’ve established relationships with them and their studios, and that Paul Schrader was “fun and easy to work with." New deals have apparently been made with Warner Brothers and Fox. She didn't elaborate on what's being picked up, but when asked if it could include “classics from the 30’s,” she said yes (whatever that means).
This was early 2009.
