I'm not so sure. They have a lot of assorted DVDs and books listed for $.01

It's Godards most vicious New Wave film (well since it was his last) and at times, has more comedy than others (along with Les Carabiniers). I have the New Yorker dvd (maybe I can sell it for $60+ like everyone else is? I think I'll keep it.), but I can't wait to see a better transfer. Having Janus do it also means a cool poster soon.

This was not my doing, but another find today on DVDBeaver via the Criterionforum:

Quote:
Last week while I was at the Society for Cinema and Media Studies in New Orleans I spoke with some Criterion reps and was delighted to learn that Criterion plans to release Lonesome (1928) with talking sequences and tinted sequences either late this year or some time next year. It is my favorite picture and I was so excited that I started doing some of the film’s dialogue. When I asked whether I could mention this online, I was assured that it would be perfectly OK.

-don't list anything that's been announced or confirmed
-please refrain from listing titles that don't have a chance (ie The Dark Knight or There Will Be Blood).

After I have enough responses then I'll compile a 10-Most wanted Blu-rays from posters in this thread. Hey, I think Criterion reads this forum!
Upgrades:

L'Avventura
Cries And Whispers
L'Eclisse
In The Mood For Love
Last Temptation Of Christ

New:

Dekalog [Kieslowski]
Betrayal [Jones] (suggested this to them a long time ago)
Darling [Schlesinger] (more of an upgrade I suppose)
Moonlighting [Skolimowski] (suggested this a long time ago too)
Die Bleierne Zeit [von Trotta]

Honorable mention to Lili Marleen [Fassbinder]

Last edited by fdm; 03-17-2011 at 05:24 AM. Reason: wrong Fassbinder title

I remember reading about that the next morning. A lot of unhappy people.

"Raise the Red Lantern" is on my list to see. Almost bought the DVD at B&N a few months ago, but held off.

If any of these were ever released on blu by criterion i'd die a very happy person

Annie Hall - I know the lack of extras automatically disqualifies any Allen movie but i can dream, cant i?

Persona - Bergmans best movie (imo)

The Virgin Spring - Yeah, I guess I'm a Bergman fanboy

Salo - I know this will happen eventually but I dont really feel like waiting a few years for it to come out

Mulholland Drive - Why are there no David Lynch films in the collection? Travesty!

Pulp Fiction - I know I'll get flamed in here for even mentioning a tarantino film but I do LOVE this movie

Rashomon - Another no brainer.... I just feel this should have been released before a bunch of other Kurosawa movies (*ahem* Kagemusha)

Off the top of my head.....

10 New
  • Gallipoli
  • Go Tell The Spartans (late career Burt Lancaster, overlooked gem about Vietnam)
  • The Year of Living Dangerously
  • Day of the Jackal
  • Lone Star
  • Mountains of the Moon (a film by Bob Rafelson)
  • A Fish Called Wanda
  • Soldier of Orange (Dutch version)
  • The Quiet American
  • Ulzana's Raid (more Burt Lancaster, great gritty Western)
Really wanted to add Quigley Down Under, but don't think it has a chance as a Criterion. But I can dream...

10 Catalog Releases

So many I want on blu, but have to pick only 10
  • Battle of Algiers
  • The Ascent
  • Picnic at Hanging Rock
  • Dazed and Confused
  • The Cranes Are Flying
  • The Naked Prey
  • Night Train to Munich
  • Andrei Rublev
  • The Spy Who Came in From the Cold
  • The Virgin Spring
