That forum is perfect, thank you dear sir.

My only gripe is not every Criterion BD release comes with the cardboard packaging. The clear case kind of irks me. It gives off a cheap feeling that I'm assuming only I am experiencing. The cardboard packaging just looks so much nicer, especially when displayed. I learned all of this from that forum so thanks again for the link.

Did it recently drop in price? I preordered it at $20.99.

It's tempting to order just because it's $20, forgetting that it's MSRP is lower than the others. Thus when and if B&N has their sale it will be that much cheaper still.

It's not even a temptation at this point so much as a conditioned response.

I put in an order through Paypal back in December and just received my replacement case about a month ago. Should still work.

The change was apparently just put in place the last week or so. So maybe, maybe not.

I haven't seen Makioka Sisters...but it's Ichikawa who directed "The Burmese Harp", which I really enjoyed. I figure it's one of the very few blind buys (which I try NOT to do), that I think I will like.

Are you kidding? No one in this forum watches films. We're solely collectors of a material product.

Thank you for ordering from the Criterion Collection. We are now processing your order dated March 25, 2011.
Looks like my $16 Criterion titles will become a reality....

As far as Makioka Sisters.... I'll watch it when I get it

For the record.... I still have 4 or 5 "Unwatched" Criterion Blu-rays, of which 3 or so are films I haven't seen before.

I have several that have been seen 3+ times though.

I'm not that interested in Makioka Sisters, but I like the idea of cheaper bare bones releases of more obscure art house/foreign films if that means more of them get a Blu-ray release. I often don't look at the extras anyway. What's important to me is the film (and PQ / AQ), and Criterion usually doesn't disappoint there. Sure, there are the great movies that practically demand lots of extras, but I don't think every film needs that.

They actually did the same thing with their DVD releases. Most titles were $39.99 MSRP but some (the ones without lots of extras) were only $29.99 MSRP.
