this is why i always buy at least 3 blus from amazon at a time so they don't arrive in those $h*tty envelopes they always put 1 blu (and sometimes 2 blus) in.
although sometimes amazon tries to be "nice" and send some blus sooner than others, so they get sent by themselves, even though i select "SEND IN ONE ORDER" ![]() ![]() |

Yes it is. I have the cardboard packaging available for this, Last Metro, Chungking Express and Third Man, if anyone's interested.

I never get padded envelopes from Amazon, it's always those folded cardboard packages where you're supposed to rip off the perforated side (even though it's almost easier to pry open the whole flap.) Personally I really like them, have yet to receive a damaged item inside one, and always leave 5 stars on the packaging feedback. They're by far the best single-DVD/Blu-ray packaging I've seen.

I'm always frustrated with how Amazon packages shipments. Because even if it is multiple items to get a bigger box, they still just shrink wrap everything together and put it in a box without peanuts or bubble wrapper. Might be less prone to damage than just the blu-rays sliding about individually, but still damage-prone. Usually a couple of the discs in the shipment have come loose and are floating about in the plastic case.
Sad to say, but I usually get more shipping care from my ebay purchases. But all of this is a reason I much prefer buying in-store during sales than I do online. |

Less jostling = not as likely to float. |

I watched a NetFlix rental of "When a Woman Ascends the Stairs" and really enjoyed it...especially the commentary by Donald Richie. I'm toying with picking up the Silent Naruse Eclipse Set during the next B & N sale, but am now considering picking up either the MoC and/or BFI Naruse sets, but don't know which one is a good first choice.
The BFI set has "Floating Clouds", which is supposedly his finest film...but The MoC set has (2) films starring one of my favorite Ozu actresses, Setsuko Hara. Decisions, decisions. If you own/have seen these sets, which one do you favor? Do you think either of these sets or films have a chance to see a blu-ray release on either MoC and/or BFI? YES CC...I did post and ask about this on each of their respective forums...I just want to know what my cultured friends here think. ![]() ![]() |
