If you prefer to receive [it and other] cases together, I would advise waiting until we have all cases available and then making the payment of [$5 each] through Paypal.
So, it looks like it'll be $45 to have all 9 digipack releases replaced, if one so desires.

ahhh man..... I figured they would cut us a break if ordering multiples...... either way, I have a feeling I'll be sending them $45

I wouldn't care if they released some one way, and others another..... but it's obvious that they are ALL going to be plastic from here out..... so I may as well fix the other ones now

Yeah, it's definitely unfortunate that if we want the clear plastic cases, that we have to pay the premium for them. Oh, well... it's our choice, I guess, whether we want them or not.

Well maybe between now and November they'll decide to discount them for those of us buying multiples.

Maybe....

You really think they'd just send empty cases?

it's their fault for making the cardboard cases in the first place and we should NOT HAVE to pay fo replacement ones! THEY SHOULD COMPLIMENTARY!

I love Criterion and all, but it's kind of a rip to everyone who has supported their blu-ray catalog so far to have to pay extra for what people are getting for free when they buy a new copy of the disc. I understand we don't have to upgrade to plastic, but there's a reason they didn't keep the cardboard around (whether it be negative feedback from consumers, durability, or whatever). If it's negative feedback, you'd think they would offer a better deal than $5 to all the people who complained. If its durability, they never should've had paper in the first place and should offer replacements because, like it or not, they sorta screwed up with their initial packaging.

Now, I know, I know, some people like the cardboard, and like I said no one is forced to upgrade, it just sucks for the people who want to to send them 45 extra dollars when we could be spending that
on new releases.

On the flipside, it's cool for them to even offer upgraded packaging in the first place.

Look at it this way. It is complimentary... they're just charging for shipping & handling.

AMEN!! A lot of people hate digibooks, but do you see Warner Bros. offering free swaps for those people?

I'm lucky I guess. I only have two (or three... I can't remember) Criterion releases with cardboard cases, so while I don't look forward to spending $10 (or $15) to upgrade the cases, I'm not out as much money as everyone else.

I can understand them charging $5 if you only order ONE, but for all nine they should cut some sort of deal.
Anyway, I wonder if they'll ship them to me

Oh, I totally agree. For those of you with bigger Criterion collections, $45 is HIGH! BUT, you already HAVE the Criterion releases as you paid for them. This is an optional service in which you are getting a "Criterion-style" Blu-ray case, with cover art...

Should they offer discounts for those of you with larger collections? Absolutely! Do they have to? No.

Actually the older slipcases pose no problem for me, as is I take very good care of my Blu-ray's. In actuality, the older cases might become collector's items, since they are first pressings!

Although $5 is a little steep, its awesome that they are offering an upgrade at all. I find it kind of silly that some of you are complaining about being ripped off for puchasing the early Criterion blus, though. If you don't like the cardboard cases that much, why did you buy them in the first place? No one forced you to. If anything, think of it as a $5 premium to have the disks 6 months ahead of time. This is just a sweet little bonus.

Oddly enough I waited to purchase Last Year at Marienbad because I knew I would have to upgrade to the clear case at some point after reading CCFix's earlier post.

$5 bucks for a replacement sucks but at the same time its awesome they are offering this without any hassle. And since they aren't a large studio who can afford to eat the cost I have no issue supporting them with $5 a case. They are high quality cases with reprinted artwork so its all good in the end.

Fortunately I only own 4 digipack CC releases so for $20 I'm not too miffed.

I really want those cases! But not for the price of 2 more criterion blu-rays...

I do believe (or really hope) they will discount the $45 price tag.
