Just won the Man who Fell to Earth Blu Ray on eBay $25!! It's the disc only so it looks like I'll have to pick up the replacement case, but $30 total aint bad. About the replacement cases, Criterion had them on their shop under the "other" section but now that section is empty, any thoughts, I'd appreciate it.

They said they will be up in 2 weeks a few days ago because they had to re-do the case stock since there was alot of complaining that the barcode sticker was hard to get off. Imagine that.

FYI: the booklet does not come with the replacement case. Usually you can get one from them. That is usually another $5.

Yeah. It has an amazing package. The movie's pretty great too. I definitely recommend it.

Yeah, I think I will do just that.
I was putting in a big Amazon order from the US and was deciding whether to put Le Cercle Rouge in there as well. I'll put the StudioCanal into my next UK order

P.S. I like your blu-ray wishlist, particularly the thought of Junior Bonner I think previous DVDs were either in the wrong aspect ratio or not enhanced for widescreen TVs.

I looked up Phantom Carriage and it looks very intriguing...even more so than Balthazar.

Has anyone here seen it yet?
Ya, I have the region 2 DVD with the alt. soundtrack done by KTL. (I like the new track quite a bit.) An incredibly atmospheric film with fantastic special effects for it's day. A Criterion BD would be a special addition IMO.

Well good for you. For better or worse some of us have different standards for purchasing.

Just watched 8 1/2 for the first time last night and all I can say is WOW! As a whole it was a trip that took me a few moments to figure out when he was in real time and losing it from his Directors block to when he was fantasizing. In fact those were the most interesting scenes within themselves. I particularly loved the bedroom scene with the exchanges between him and his wife followed by the preceding morning how his wife chastizes her husband in his regard to unable to be honest and her smirk comments towards his mistress. Also loved the scene with his fantasy of all the women in his life. I'll be watching it again tonight to get a better understanding of this film and to catch what I may have missed upon my first viewing. It's been a while since I've seen a movie in repetitive viewings. While I wouldn't jump out and say it's one of my all time favorites it definately left me thinking/pondering. I could not get this film out of my mind last night.

One of the best films about filmmaking ever made, if not the best. Gets right to the heart of the creative process, as well as the process of having to deal with every question on a film. It's also one of the most reflexive films ever made, and aspect which I enjoy: when you delve into the extras, you will see how much of the elements in the film actually corresponded to what had happened/what was happening to Fellini at the time. Truly a fascinating film.

The few times I have tried to watch this I have been either too tired or drunk to not fall asleep in half an hour. My friend lent me the DVD though, so hopefully I can see this tomorrow.

Need Help! If you could only pick up 5 of the 7 May Criterion Blu-ray releases, what 2 would you leave out?

I left out Pale Flower, Smiles of a Summer Night, and Something Wild personally. Would probably get smile or wild as a 5th.

Something Wild and Fat Girl.

I'm leaving out Smiles of a Summer Night as well, at least for now.

Thanks! I already canceled Something Wild & was thinking of Smiles of a Summer Night to cancel. I really wanted all 7 so I was having a tough time deciding...

I personally love Smiles of a Summer Night. It's fun to watch Bergman not take himself SO seriously for once

I think you could leave out fat girl. While I think it's a very good flick, it's not priority.
