Interesting that Blow Out on blu is now at #3 in sales of all blu-rays available at amazon. Pretty impressive. They're blow em out the door, so to speak. Ok--hit me now, that was bad. But I bought it, and I'm looking forward to seeing it for the first time since I sat in the theater in 1981.

At $17.99 I can finally justify replacing my "M" DVD with the Blu-ray. This is a great price!

Maybe I shouldn't have spent that much. Oh well.

Paths of Glory
The Red Shoes
The Seventh Seal
Sweet Smell of Success

Finally decided not to keep pushing The Seventh Seal out of my orders. Ha!

Anything else?

I did the same a couple of weeks ago, when B & N had a 50% coup.

Silent Naruse is a great set...it's a shame that NO ONE has any of his films on the blu-ray radar.

Pleasant surprise to log in today and see these Criterion prices. I grabbed Blow Out and The Sweet Smell of Success. Thanks Amazon!

Just ordered Sweet Smell of Success. Didn't feel too bad about it because I see it's not going to come for another 9-11 days even though I have Prime, so it must be out of stock--and thus, no immediate charge.

Now off to convince/not convince myself to pick up Senso and Wings of Desire...

I see that a lot of Criterion movies are on sale. I was thinking about picking up Che to start my collection, but I don't know if it's on sale along with the other movies.

Amazon's first shipment of Blow Out is gone:

Usually ships within 9 to 13 days.

5 Criterions in the Amazon top 20 Blu-ray sellers.

Rich, I don't know if you have the Dearden 25 set, but at $22.50 it's a steal. I have been holding off on that for a while, now its a no-brainer.

I've got a question - if for example instead of ordering an item with my card I used an Amazon gift card instead would Amazon still print the value of the package or would they subtract the gift card? I'm trying to think how to avoid customs.

Wow. They did blow em out the door! Glad I got mine before they were (temporarily) gone...

Can someone give me some thoughts on Sweet Smell of Success? I like the cast, I like films about show business (All About Eve, Sunset blvd, etc.), but I wonder how much reply value this title might have...?

The value of the order is still on the invoice when paying with a gift card in full. I'm not sure how this affects customs though. . .

If you can appreciate those films then you'll love it--I have no doubts. It's a lot of fun. Lancaster is terrific and Curtis is in top form.

I'm in the UK where:

If Item Price + Postage is over £18 (£15 from November) then you pay 3.5% of this as an import tax plus 20% of Item Price + Postage + 3.5%. It isn't such a bargain if you get caught by customs.

I think I convinced myself not to get The Leopard and Senso. I probably need to save some money for upcoming releases and other sales.

Sorry this is late..... "yes" I'm keeping my $15.95 Criterion orders.... I received the first 8 titles so far, with 4 more due by May 3rd, then 5 more after that in one shipment....

June/July were all pre-ordered via Amazon.

I suppose the same applies to me. I have four of these sale items, among some other stuff, sitting at the post office awaiting pickup today. Looks like four of them are going to be sent back shortly for refund.

(Hope the ones that were supposed to ship today when I placed the order actually do ship today...)
