And you are Italian, so there should be absolutely no excuses whatsoever - your Christmas present has been decided.

On a side note, I am so very pleased to see that you chose Baarìa to represent you at the Oscars this year. Hopefully, we would see the first Tornatore film appear on Blu-ray in 2010. Well done

Are the latest releases still in PS3 cases?

Clear plastic cases. Not sure what PS3 cases look like in your country, so can't help you with that. But yes, they'll all be the same as the Seventh Seal/Pierrot/Repulsion ones going forward.

I actually need to check out 8 1/2 but then again isn't Nine an update of it and more recent?

Criterion better start releasing Wes Anderson movies. I'm dying for Rushmore, Life Aquatic and Darjeeling. Oh and Royal! Did I just list his entire filmography?

I have to disagree - Wes Anderson is the last director they need to touch now.

Focus on Antonioni, Tarkovsky, Kieslowski, Renoir and Pasolini.

I completely agree we need some of the big directors on blu soon. As I have stated before, I think Andrei Rublev would the biggest film one could imagine on blu - and Criterion's first effort was not even anamorphic!

I also find it a great shame that Human condition and Rossellini's war films have not been issued on blu....I now finally ordered Human condition on DVD but it feels a little bit like waisting money....

^ Agree. There seems to be a lot of contemporary releases on the following months.

Kinda sad the War Trilogy is not on HD.

I understand criterion cannot take the big step towards blu in one go, but it is more than a shame that the two biggest news of the last year, Human condition and the war trilogy only came out on DVD. In particular because they have been submitted to such a meticulous restoration.

hehe yes for 8 1/2 I can do everything I'm not good in buy player tv, and stuff like that can you give me an advise?

Baarià is a good movie, technically great, but I didn't enjoy. (the soundtrack of Morricone is great as usual ).
For me Il divo and others film of Sorrentino.. or Gomorra deserved the Oscar nomination respect to baarià

Absolutely, if needed, I would even help with the shipping to Italy (should you select a player from a vendor that does not ship internationally).

PM-me so we do not clutter this thread.

Yes but Darjeeling Limited and Life Aquatic have such amazing visuals. How could anyone not want to watch that in Blu? I personally think they released the weakest Anderson movie was the worst choice to release first but it was long overdue. And Rushmore is one of my favorite movies. I love that one.

I tend to agree with you. Life Aquatic is one my all-time favorite films. I want all of Wes Anderson's films on Blu from Criterion and I even hope the Fantastic Mr. Fox comes out thru Criterion.
Also, I am excited that they are doing the replacement program for the cardboard releases. I watch mine so often that the corners are starting to crease badly.

8 1/2 is great and I am glad they are releasing it but Criterion needs to see if they can get the rights to La Dolce Vita which in my opinion is Fellini's best film.

I love those cardboard covers. I'm keeping my Fight Club cardboard and throwing away the blu package once I get it. It adds that collectible value to it.

Hopefully, they will announce Antonioni's Red Desert and Godard's My Life To Live soon...

Personally, I wish they would get the rights to Raise the Red Lantern by Zhang Yimou. That should look great on Blu if done correctly.

Wrong...they need to get The Seven Samurai on Blu ASAP! I would hate to see that go the way of RAN if it already hasn't! Then worry about Antonioni etc...

I'm sure there's some Kurosawa coming in March 2010.
