It don't matter (my post was a joke anyways about "rewording"). I request stuff to John M's e-mail. When you do the suggestions e-mail, and if your looking for a response, you won't get one.

Do you think they were touring the Keiths Brewery?

A nit-picky packaging question to forum users...

Has anyone received their blu-rays lately with the cover insert torn along the bottom spine corners? This is cause by the cover insert not being fully under the plastic cover on the case.

For the past 2 - 3 months, I'd say, just about every other new release Criterion blu-ray has come to me this way from Amazon. The covers are out of the case by about 3/16" to 1/4" causing the covers to be torn down along the spine corners. I can't imagine it's a shipping issue with Amazon because these are brand new sealed discs and in multiple disc packages it's only one of the two where this is an issue.. So, I have to assume that covers aren't being properly inserted into the cases at the factory.

I wrote to Criterion today asking about it, but I just thought I'd ask if anyone else has experienced this.

I haven't gotten any like that from Amazon but I have seen it a few times on the shelves at Barnes & Noble.

The rights have apparently been sorted out. The British Film Institute has been working on a 2K scan of the uncut 5 1/2 hr. reconstruction.

Speaking of Coppola, a perfect criterion release could be Godfather 1 and 2 in chronological order like they showed on TV once. But that will NEVER happen

when it comes to Coppola...I'm stoked for a release of The Conversation. Whenever that may be.
It would be a great double-feature with Blow Out.

Tough, but here goes.... They're all great, but they're also VERY UNIQUE & NON TRADITIONAL films. The Red Shoes and Sweet Smell may be the most "normal".

M
Modern Times
Paths of Glory
8 1/2
Army of Shadows
Sweet Smell of Success
Breathless
Red Shoes
Le Cercle Rouge
(Have all the others, but have passed on buying this one. Maybe I was tired when I saw it. It was good, but it didn't click for me as a "must buy". I'll give it another try some day...

Haven't seen Au revoir les enfants. Haven't seen Blow Out since the 80's on HBO, so recall almost nothing about it.

Happy Viewing

Am I the only one who didn’t love Blow Out? I thought that the Jeep accident sequence was borderline ridiculous and some of the acting left me shaking my head. I also wasn’t a fan of the “just add fireworks and stir” approach to the climax. I realize we all have different tastes but I’m a little surprised to see such fanfare for this film.

1. The Red Shoes
2. M
3. Paths Of Glory
4. Le Cercle Rouge
5. 8 ½
6. Sweet Smell Of Success
7. Au revoir les enfants
8. Modern Times
9. Blow Out

I received a couple like that from B&N. Some also had their case/cover cut.

CC, Like others, I usually get those problems from B&N, and more-so DVDs.

I've been thinking about picking up The Thin Red Line.
Anyone have this? I tried searching for it, but there's way too many posts here and not a single thread about the film in the forum.

Just curious about everyone's thoughts regarding the transfer.

It's supposed to have an outstanding transfer, one of the best (reference-worthy). I hated the movie when I saw it in college 10 years ago. Given the raves, the fact that I'm a Clooney/Cusack/etc.. fan, the excellent supplements Criterions usually pack.... I bought it with B&N's 50% off coupon back late Jan/early Feb. As it's not on sale at the time, you may want to wait 2 months until B&N's bi-annual 50% off Criterion sale. I think I paid $17-something.

My Revanche has some tiny creases, and to a minor extent Repulsion as well, but I got those ages ago. No problem on any of the ones I've gotten in the last few months.
