Thanks CC! Red Road is streamable...I'll check it out in the near future.

I really enjoy The Mikado. The film has some of the more memorable music I have heard in a musical. The technicolor cinematography is also very pleasing, not unlike The Wizard of Oz in feel. (both films made during the greatest year in film history, 1939)

I'm so far behind in this thread, I don't even know what I've said thus far!

If I didn't say it, here it is:

I watched "The Times of Harvey Milk" recently, and thought it was an extremely well-put-together documentary, and certainly a story that kept my interest, and one in which I'll certainly view repeatedly (I can't say it was a "Good" story..... that just doesn't seem fitting)

I also think "King of Kong" is a documentary that falls into the above accolades, so I guess I just love the human drama of it all

I'm glad to hear another good recommendation for The Times of Harvey Milk. I'm really interested in watching it.

Criterionforum has put up the packaging photos for Solaris, Great Dictator, Diabolique, and Pale Flower, if no one has checked those out yet.

I'm glad to hear the blank cases are back. Out of all the movies I've bought, I just today had my first ever broken case issue. I guess with all the buying it was bound to happen eventually.

On a movie note, I just watched "Kuroneko" the other night thanks to hulu plus and it was excellent. Can't wait for it to get the disc treatment, hopefully with "Onibaba" alongside it.

If you like King of Kong, I would also strongly recommend seeing Anvil, Winnebago Man, and the recently released Marwencol. I'm trying not to buy more regular DVDs, but if I break down King of Kong will be on the list.

just received my broadcast news and yiyi from amz. one odd thing i noticed compared to my other criterions is the movies are sealed with the front blue criterion sticker, but the security sticker at the top of the case are missing on both. is this normal for everyone else?

I don't think I've ever received a criterion with a security sticker on top...

Although the sale is now over, some of the films stayed at the 20 dollar range! Sweet Smell of Success, Broadcast News, Army of Shadows, Fish Tank, and Shock Corridor are just some of the films staying at the 19.99-20.99 price range! Blow Out went up to 27.99 though.

I'm a bit miffed that I ordered Sweet Smell of Success a week early, and paid 25.99 for it. I'm not too miffed, as I can't be bothered to go through the hassle of returning it, since I live in Canada, and the 25.99 price point was still way less than the Canadian one. It was also worth the 25.99 price. Canadian Criterion prices are offensive! Broadcast News, which I got for the sale price, is literally 20 dollars more, while The Leopard, is currently 16 dollars more. When I bought it for the sale price, it was 25 dollars more! Canadians are getting hosed.

I rented and then bought Marwencol...a wonderful doc that has that "Crumb" oddness to it that makes it even more interesting.

Looks like A Christmas Tale, Crumb, The Last Metro, Repulsion, and Charade have been marked down as well.

Also I picked up Two Lane Blacktop and Night and Fog on DVD for killer prices

I saw that. I should have waited on Charade too I guess. Argh. Still cheaper than the Canadian price though.
