How much of a chance do you think there is of Breaking the Waves being released by criterion? I'm a big von Trier fan but netflix doesn't have this, my local blockbuster doesn't have it, and the DVD is pretty expensive on amazon for a blindbuy. Many people think this is his best film, and I saw a poster in here say that one of the clues in the new year drawings could possibly be Breaking The Waves. I just really want to see it.

There is absolutely no need for 127 Hours to be in the collection. It already has a perfectly amazing blu-ray release... there's nothing Criterion could do except add a few more extras maybe. Why not let the films that already have great discs be and instead wish for better films that AREN'T already on blu-ray?

Great news! I just reviewed the series from an import UK dvd and would love to watch again in high definition. Now we need BERLIN ALEXANDERPLATZ.

I sold my copy of Cronos but was tempted to keep it just for the extra where he gives a tour of his "man cave".

I just checked the @DAVID_LYNCH on Twitter to see if by chance he follows Criterion there. He (or his underling) doesn't appear to, but he does follow John Hodgman, Russell Simmons, Russell Brand, Rainn Wilson, Zachary Quinto, Ashton Kutcher and Moby.

Thanks.

I'm not suprised about who Lynch follows on Twitter. He's a bit peculiar.

Really crappy news about Lynch and Criterion. (I can only imagine how Blue Velvet or Mulholland Dr. would look in a nice 4k digital restoration)

I just came home from seeing Meek's Cutoff. I thought the film was very interesting and was never anything but captivated by the story. (shot in 4/3 like Fish Tank) I wonder if this would be something that Criterion would be interested in. (Oscilloscope does not always release all of its films on BD, Terribly Happy for example is only out on DVD)

I see that Oscilloscope will be releasing Meek's Cutoff on a DVD/BD combo pack on 9/13 so scratch that idea...

Is there a reason why Blow Out is no longer being sold by Amazon? Only third party sellers.

I would say it is because they are out of stock only. The title seems to be a good seller for Criterion.

They might have also had an unusual number of returns for some reason.

Maybe buyer's remorse after people went goofy during the recent sale.

Criterion thought to themselves, "Wait? Brian De Palma? The same guy who made The Black Dahlia amongst other shitty films? Yeah. We're discontinuing his only good one as to not give him any credit."

It will probably return for sale eventually when they get some stock. They no doubt had a huge rush with the sale. Admittedly, I am glad I got my order a few weeks ago.

Doesn't Amazon just list an item as currently out of stock or new stock on order, I have never seen them just pull a listing like this? I am really glad that I have my copy already, Blow Out is such an amazing film.

Anyone ever had an experience where Amazon has just pulled an newly released item that has had no reports of any problems. I know that they stopped selling the UK version of "The Innocents" a while back due to technical issues with the BD. Strange.

Agreed.
From time to time I will fill up my cart with a bunch of movies and just assume/not pay attention, only to later discover that they were not actually coming from Amazon. So far I haven't had any issues but still...it's annoying to say the least.

Perhaps it's my OCD or something but I just don't trust random people as much as I do an actual commercial retail outlet.

Sometimes it's also because the Third Party has cheaper stock than Amazon. Amazon US has been totally wonky as of late for just about everything. Slightly OT, but I just ordered a new jacket. They had the jacket in 2 colours, at two different prices on the same listing. Amazon wouldn't ship the cheap one to me, but would ship the more expensive one. They're just screwy.

Seen Kes and The Night of the Hunter recently, and I'm amazed! Both are 10/10 films and def one of my best blind buys ever.
