Criterion will not release Badlands as it's distributed by Warner.

Criterion doesn't have a forum.

The artwork for Kiss Me Deadly is up over at Criterionforum.org. I love it, the cover of the booklet looks great.

It looks like she has a very "perky" personality.

Anything connected to that Movie should look great, couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it for the first time. Happy to put my MGM DVD to his resting place.

I really do like the whole cheap 50's book thing Criterion is doing with this release. I did pause to reflect on which would have the potential to do someone more harm though, a quick turn and knock to the head with one of those ta-ta's, or her puny firearm.

Yeah it's the thing about the Cover it's in the tradition of trashy pulp novels. Big guns and Blondes with bigger guns (or sometimes redheads looking like Rita Hayworth for diversity). The look they had at the time not the glamour one they added 50 Years later when People like Jim Thompson or Dashiell Hammett became "art".

Hey gang,

I just got done watching Yojimbo. I would post my usual review here but it's 4:00 AM here in Iowa and I need some sleep.

I will post my full review tomorrow, for right now I will say that I award this film 3.25/4 stars.

Good night.

Monterey Pop is fantastic. I'm still exploring the first disc in the set. So happy to see my favourite Monkee introduce Buffalo Springfield! I wish there were more performances from them though, besides "For What it's Worth." Also wished they had included "So You Want to Be a Rock and Roll Star," by The Byrds, and "Windy" by the Association. I'm so glad I held off on buying it because I was a cheap bastard during my university days. It's much more enjoyable on Blu-Ray, and because I can watch it for fun, and not as a part of some major research paper for my undergraduate degree. I think I'll order Gimme Shelter later on this summer. I wonder if Criterion would grab up Festival Express and put that out on Blu-Ray. That's such a fun concert film.

Not directly related to Criterion, but Monte Hellman's "Road to Nowhere" is announced on amazon, release date 08/23. (Link HERE )

Can't wait for this one - seems that august will be a great month.

Is anyone else a little disappointed about Criterion's transfer of Charlie Chaplin's "THE GREAT DICTATOR"??

It's definitely a good deal worse than "Modern Times", which was nearly perfect.
TGD must have had tons of heavy print damage and what not, because there is a LOT of movement in the backgrounds, like pulsating patches....
It must have been very challenging to remove all the damage, and I my kudos to them, but since MT is older, I expected TGD to look equally good, if not better.

Detail is very good, as are contrast levels. Grain structure is nicely resolved too, and grain isn't heavy at all most of the time.

Overall, I'd say 3,5+/5 for PQ.

Default Trade Amacord for Imax: Hubble 3-D Blu-ray

Who would like to trade your Imax:Hubble 3-D BD for my Amacord Blu-ray edition?

My Amacord edition even comes with 2 packages, as the first time there was no disc. It's in pristine condition, and I have only watched it once.

It's just not my cup of tea. PM me if you would like to trade.

Thanks in advance

Some guy (probably not on this forum, but ya never know) stopped me, and took my picture in the parking lot of Pine-Knob (DTE Center or whatever they're calling it these days) at the Phish show in Michigan Friday.......

The Hausu shirt has a very strange effect on people with heads full of drugs......

When I was down in NYC for Memorial Day weekend I received three compliments on my Hausu shirt. It makes you feel like you're doing right by the world, or something.

I don't know if the "Dude in the scary shirt wants a veggie-burrito" and other colorful things said to me were "compliments" but I'll pretend they were!

Just wanted to throw this out there for anyone who might be interested.

After picking up the La Haine Criterion DVD, I found an individual on Amazon.fr with the out of print Studio Canal Blu-ray version. While the Blu is a significant upgrade in picture quality over the Criterion DVD, the Criterion subtitles are far better and much more detailed, making the movie more enjoyable for those who don't speak french.
