PP, I read the review over and I cannot see where it says it's region-free anywhere? Only where it says its region-locked, as usual, to A. Anyways, it looks great and cannot wait, as I have never seen this. Looks like a great typical Malle trip to somewhere??

It was an error then and he changed it because it was up for a long period stating it was Region Free it must have been a slight error and then he corrected it.

It's definitely a good deal worse than "Modern Times", which was nearly perfect.
TGD must have had tons of heavy print damage and what not, because there is a LOT of movement in the backgrounds, like pulsating patches....
It must have been very challenging to remove all the damage, and I my kudos to them, but since MT is older, I expected TGD to look equally good, if not better.
For Modern Times Criterion did their own transfer, but unfortunately for The Great Dictator they used an inferior transfer that I assume was done by mk2. It has some edge enhancement, black crush (resulting in some very contrasty shadows) and the grain structure is just all over the place. A few scenes resolve it nicely with little processing, in others it's almost been wiped clean (particularly during the opticals) and most of the time it's somewhere in-between. Overall it's watchable, but still way too much additional processing in my opinion.

Default Last Year at Marienbad

My copy of Last Year at Marienbad arrived and holy cow Criterion! That old packaging is atrocious! I'm glad they chNged it very early in the process. It sucks to have to pay $6 in shipping for a $5 replacement case, though!

The design is nice for Marienbad. My gripe with the old package on that one is it is much much too tight. It was a pain getting everything back in the case.

Yeah...that was a horrible experience getting it all out and then back in. Truth be told, my opinion is a bit tilted since I don't much care for the digibook and digipak design.

My copies of Bigger than Life and Au Revoir Les Enfants finally showed up! Now to go on Criterion hiatus until July, as I need to save money!

Is there any way, I can get the replacement case for Chungking Express to Germany? I hate the cheap-looking digipack.

Sure, you just have to find someone over here in the U.S. to purchase it from Criterion and send it to you. I did it not too long ago for a person in Scotland.

Has anyone created any custom covers for the America Lost & Found BBS set?

I am specifically looking for Easy Rider and The Last Picture Show. I would be greatful to anyone that could help.

As a side note I finally got through the entire BBS set and I think I am going to part out the set and just keep Easy Rider and The Last Picture Show. Those are the only 2 movies that struck a cord and will have replay value for me.

I am interested if someone is willing to make all the covers for the movies in the set. Covers that would fit in the standard size clear Blu-ray Criterion case.

Since everybody was talking about their orange House shirts yesterday, would it be weird to buy the blu-ray just for the short film Emotion that is on there? I liked it better.
