Solaris was priced $29.99, so it was $24.99 with coupon. BB didn't have Solaris on the release date, so I assumed they would not be stocking it. However, when I swung by there yesterday to see if they had anything worth using the $5 coupon on, there it was.

You'd still be spending almost $80 with buying two movies. I'd wait til the sale when you can get 4 movies out of that money.

If my math is correct:

Buy 2, Get 1 Free
($39.99 * 2) = $79.98.

10% Markdown (Classcode)
($79.98 * 0.9) = $71.98.

10% Membership Discount
($71.98 * 0.9) = $64.78.

Add sales tax (in my case 6.25% for MA)
Total: $68.83
$/Criterion: $22.94

If I bought three in July during their 50% Criterion sale I would be spending $16.20 less before sales tax ($17.20 per Criterion).

Too bad we don't have any high % off printable coupons. Maybe in July,

Hell, if they have a 15% off highest item in order printable coupon in July and the order exceeds $50 after all discounts you might be able to stack http://www.barnesandnoble.com/email/...?r=1&PID=38054 on top. It is all up to the cashier though.

• ($39.99 * 0.9 * 0.9 * 0.5) = $16.19
• ($39.99 * 0.9 * 0.9 * 0.5) = $16.19
• ($39.99 * 0.9 * 0.9 * 0.5) = $16.19
• ($39.99 * 0.9 * 0.9 * 0.5 * 0.85) = $13.76.

Total before sales tax and after discounts: $62.33.
Minus $5 since order is greater than $50.

$57.33, add MA sales tax: $60.91 for 4 Criterions, $15.23 per Criterion.

YMMV scenario though, and that assumes the cashier will stack both coupons if Barnes & Noble even has a 15% coupon during the 50% off Criterion sale in July. Also hopefully the sale starts before July 24 when the $5 off $50 coupon expires. You could also find a $4.00 item to bump the total over $50 in case you didn't want to buy 4 Criterions,

Yes, they are bad, but there's some redeeming value out of both of them. I've watched them a couple times, and they do improve. Having a couple bottles of wine while watching them also improved the quality of movies. First time I watched ASP it was a 4/10, and Drive, He Said was a 5/10. They'll never go higher than their current ratings, I guarantee that.

Your math is wrong because that extra 10% off doesn't apply during the sale (The 50% off sticker replaces the 10% off sticker).

So unless you're only a Criterion fan-boy, you can probably find something worthwhile.
Best of luck with that. I had The Sound of Music go up ten bucks in my cart at the start of this sale.

I've got nothing against B&N but anything short of stackable coupons and/or 50% sales are generally not all that worthwhile.

Just has a wonderful experience at Best Buy! I called to confirm that they had Solaris in stock, as my computer stated they did. (the online inventory devices for BB and Borders are about as useful as tits on a bull) The person I spoke with put the phone down, and when he came back he assured me that the BD was in store. I drove the ten miles in traffic, and the BD was not on the shelf. I asked if the disc was still in the back, but it was not. At this point I asked to speak to the store manager, and he told me he was sorry and would be glad to order the BD and ship it to me free of charge.

After standing and waiting @30 min. for them to figure out how to do all this, I final was able to pay. To cap off my joyful shopping experience, the person told me I could not use the $5.00 coupon as it was in store only. My retort was "that's why I called to make sure it was here". I grabbed the coupon and walked out after waisting and hour of my time and five dollars in gas.

Why not order from Amazon?

Funny you mention it, I did just that when I got home. I guess that I like to actually step into a store and buy a Criterion now and then, something that is becoming harder to do it seems. I do buy most of my Criterion BD's online. (through Amazon and DVDempire when I can find a coupon)

Can you use instore coupons that way though? Can you pay when you pickup?

Ah, gotcha. I was thinking ship-to-store.

At least this is the case online. Some pre-orders also work (I tried the Ghost In The Shell Solid State Society title and it worked). So it's comparable to Amazon prices, only you get to pick your titles as opposed to what Amazon offers on sale.

The real issue is whether or not you can find titles in-store, because dealing with their online/mail order can be .
The dude I quoted was talking about the deals he thought he could get during a supposed July Criterion sale in store, not the current 3 for 2 deal you described.

I'm just a little fed up with British Working-Class dramas, maybe I watched too much of them. I think they are turning those out for the last 50 Years. It's not like British Cinema has nothing to offer, but somewhere there is a feeling of oversaturation of the same.
It's not like the Powell Pressburger Films, those still feel fresh although they are almost 70 years old.

That sounds intriguing: Upon reading Papal intervention it reminds me again at how bad Ken Russel's The Devils, has been treated for the last 40 Years, love to see a good release for that Movie. Not for everyone but loved it since I first saw it on Television when I was 15 Years old.
