For me, Drive, He Said deserved no. 4 position in this BBS collection. I am talking about the film itself

silly and meaningless but id never skip it, it is a great psychedelic rock musical. very trippy and fun, like a live action cartoon. but helps if you appreciate the monkees music and personalities. the whole movie is about how the monkees are escaping from the hollywood scene but it keeps catching them

remember, criterion's goal with this set wasn't claiming all these movies are 5 stars. but that they represent the whole era and attitude.

The BBS set is meant to be a representation of the era. you watch them and you feel you're time traveling to a totally unique place in american movies, that never existed again. it also caused me to search out some others in that era and they are all unique. so I hope they will release a BBS 2 sometime.

some of you don't seem to understand criterion's goal, they aren't about just releasing the 'great' movies. they will also bring out challenging and underappreciated work, which under the label you can look at in a different light.

so while technically you are right that those are the three masterpieces in the collection... criterion wasn't saying all the movies in the set are at that level. instead, they are there as a representation of the mindset of that era. that is why I appreciate all the movies in the set. you watch them and you feel you're time traveling to a totally unique place in american movies, that never existed again.

I know, but it just too silly for me. I didn't skip even it is completely silly. "challenging and underappreciated work" - that is the reason I love criterion, but.... the film for me is silly, it is silly even though.. the setup is unique & different kind of idea, but beside this, I can't tell they is any storyline on it.

I can't just rate it 5 star because of it unique setup & different kind of idea. I do appreciate it setup but at least give me some storyline, they is no story inside it.
