I've ordered about 16 or so titles from deep discount. Shipping ranged from 4 or 5 days to 2 weeks except for one occasion where the title was backordered and took months.
My only complaint is some of the packaging for titles was horrible. I can't stand receiving damaged Bluray cases. Even the slightest ding bothers me to no end. Yes I probably need therapy, but hey I paid for a 'new' Bluray and expect it that way.

Just wanted to mention that I received shipping confirmation today for the large order I made yesterday through DeepDiscount (15 individual Criterions + BBS set). They're using DHL for this order, and only one (Kagemusha) has been left out of the initial shipment. This title was apparently backordered.

It's nice to see a quick turnaround considering all the bad press DeepDiscount has been receiving here due to its past reputation. It definitely puts my mind at ease knowing I won't be waiting weeks/months for the order to process.

Well I decided to check my order history. It says I have a order from 9/8/2010 open and one from 9/16/2010 processing. Hilarious. I get the sneaking suspicion this may be a long wait Also in my past dealings with them they would send a email saying shipped and I wouldn't get the package for well into 2 weeks. Making me question if the shipping confirmation was sent well ahead of the actual shipment.

I feel sorry for anyone who pays over night shipping only to have their shipment go out a week later.

I just got an email from Deep Discount saying that four of the five Criterions I ordered yesterday afternoon have shipped. The only one that hasn't shipped yet is Cronos.

Just got another email saying the final Criterion in my order, Kagemusha, has also been shipped. I'm hoping the people who have been claiming that DD has improved their process/service due to being under new management is true. I'll post again when the packages arrive.

OK now I'm jealous! I ordered at 9:30 AM yesterday and haven't heard anything yet. I hope they have changed their ways. If they want increased business they need to. Shipping is a huge part of the total package that makes Amazon so successful. Price being the other.

Of course, you could interpret it to mean nothing, as well!
Agreed. November seems right.

The free shipping option. The two titles I purchased are for a B-day gift in November, so I am really in no rush.

By the way, The Night of the Hunter was shipped this morning. (Kiss Me Deadly is backordered)

P.S.
BennyBlu's avatar reminded me of the conclusion of "Lady from Shanghai". Undoubtably one of the great scenes in the history of film noir.

Since I have mentioned lowering expectations with Deep Discount, thought I should post that the Our Hospitality I ordered on June 3rd arrived today. In perfect condition in a bubble mailer that was next to impossible to open.

So not bad, all things considered.

watched Vivre Sa Vie on Hulu Plus tonight. It was my first experience watching a Criterion film on Hulu, but those of you on the fence with a reasonable internet connection should try it. I streamed it flawlessly to a HTPC hooked up to my TV in my living room. The HD looked great, never stopped for buffering and there were no dips in quality or screen tearing. Someone a few pages back had problems streaming on their PS3, I'll try that tomorrow.

What's up with that sh*t?

I wanted to order another 6 Criterion blu ray's but I guess I'll have to wait for the B&N sale.

Any chance that deepdiscount or dvdplanet reduce their prices again?

That would be me, I think. Like I said, though, other than trying to play the movie trailers I had no problems streaming the Hulu Plus material from beginning to end. However, if I paused the film/tv show or skimmed forward/reverse I could never get it to continuously play through to the end without the program constantly freezing.
