You could just order it online with an eGiftCard that you send to yourself. The card can be used in store, I believe.

Also, quick question: if my girlfriend has a membership can I log into her account, and order something with my card info and address while using her discount? I figure it should be fine, but I'm just making sure.

I'm not sure but I think the free membership offer is only available online and then you'll be able to print out your temporary membership, which you can use in-store until they send you the actual card. Like Keldons said, you could just buy an egiftcard and then use that in store.

It could probably work as long as there's an option to add another credit card just like Amazon prime.

Hope there’s a $5 off coupon that will be active during the sale like they’ve had in the past.

Thank you, blkhrt... finally, someone knows how to actually spell the movie they're talking about in this forum. Now, if everyone could just learn that there is no apostrophe in "Howards End."

I thought that it was Horwards End. I'll give the first person who actually gets that reference a billion dollars. Ok back on topic, I just watched The Magician, and I'm def. going to get it during the sale. I started watching The Seventh Seal, but the kids are watching something and its very distracting.

I just watched Shock Corridor and I couldn't have been more impressed with it. I lost it when Johnny stumbles into the room of ladies and just says, "Nymphos!" haha. Also, the Sam Fuller doc on the disc is just as incredible and makes me think i could sit around listening to Fuller talk all day. If any of you guys don't have it, I highly recommend it. It's pretty much sealed the deal on getting his Eclipse set.

I think it also depends on how many movies you want to buy and which ones. If you join now, you get the remaining week or so on the B2G1 sale, plus the Criterion sale. Good time to stock up.

An alternative is to wait a few more months before signing up for the trial. If B&N holds true to their Novemeber Criterion sale followed by January B2G1 sale, then you get both sales with the movies that will release between August and January plus the chance to pick up more past releases. The wait between the July and November sale is only a bit over three months. Unfortunately, this requires patience...

One thing I am wondering is if you have already had the trial membership and canceled, can you sign up again using a different email address and credit card and get it again?

After so much thinking, I am realizing choosing my "sale" titles is harded than it sounds at times . So far my list goes like this...

Top of my Wishlist... The Red Shoes, Repulsion, Zazie dans le Metro, Paths of Glory, Paris,Texas, Mystery Train.

Still unsure... Walkabout, Playtime, The Darjeeling Limited, Army of Shadows, Gomorrah, Vivre sa Vie.

I feel I should put Playtime and Vivre sa Vie in the "top" instead of the "middle" thought... does anyone who have seen these films recommend a new list? I am really having a hard time with this as my "funds" aren't all that big .

I'm hoping Criterion will wise up and issue a Blu-Ray Cassavetes set so I'll stop hesitating to buy the DVDs during these sales.

I only have 40 dollars to spend on the sale, so I will be buying Pierrot Le Fou, only because its out of print and will probably go up way in price like every other out of print criterion.
If I could find two 20 dollar movies, I would also buy Seven Samurai.

I have been positive that, and in some cases, hoping, every time I buy a boxset, it's gonna get Bluray'd. So far, my Berlin Alexanderplatz and Cassavetes sets are still DVD only. Maybe you should go ahead and buy both and yours will be the lucky buy that leads them to blu!

I've become a fan of the essays and articles in the booklets. There's something quite nice about having a little printed booklet with a few pictures and an informative essay to enjoy after you've watched the film. Sure, you can get all kinds of stuff off the internet, but I like having these booklets.
Also, and this might seem silly, but the booklet adds physical weight to the blu-ray package, which seems to add to its aesthetic weight. When you pull it off the shelf, it feels solid and important in your hands, instead of cheap and flimsy like so many blu-ray packages.

I have put a bit of money away for the sale Going to spend up to around $200 I think. Have just bought Solaris, Diabolique and Kiss Me Deadly from the 3 for 2 sale (couldn't wait, I am weak), so I think the main ones I am after are...

Definite -

Something Wild
The Times of Harvey Milk
High and Low
Naked
Beauty and the Beast
Close-Up
Insignificance

And others that I want but will have to choose between...

Charade
Hunger
Summer Hours
House
Fish Tank
White Material

If only some of the August titles would make the cut- think most of them will just miss the sale though

My wife and I agreed on 5 titles for the sale. Here is what we've chosen:

Bigger Than Life
Army of Shadows
Hunger
Close-Up
Still Walking

Looking at my collection, can anyone give me an opinion on these choices? Are there better choices I could swap in? Thanks!

Out of those I've only seen Fish Tank. Highly recommend getting it, great film.

All great choices. Especially, Close-Up. I think Hunger is excellent but for me it has zero replay value because of how hard the subject matter is to take in.
