Does everyone think that eventually every non OOP title on DVD will make its way to bluray?
And does the old blurays that originally came with cardboard packaging still come with card board packaging. Like Bottle Rocket?

Nevertheless, I'm always interested to hear people's takes on silent film scores. I generally dislike the synthesizer scores that so many of them have, but that's life.
Ah, gotcha. I'm still curious about the score options for People on Sunday if anybody wants to chime in.

(though given my track record there's no rush - it will likely take its time getting from my mailbox to my player)

Not sure if they sell new versions. But you've got the possibility to order the amaray replacement version on Criterion.

When I ordered Bottle Rocket a couple months ago, it arrived in the plastic case...but my copies of El Norte and Last Year at Marienbad arrived as digipaks. Of course, my self-diagnosed OCD compelled me to order the replacement cases for Norte and Marienbad.

Satyajit Ray's "The Music Room" BD review is up on DVD Beaver ! http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film3/blu-r...om_blu-ray.htm

I'm quite stunned with the image quality, specially when compared to the terrible image of the dvd... This will surely be a day-one purchase for me !

I have only watched the film once so far with the default Mont Alto Orchestra track. This is a pretty standard sounding retro silent era film score IMO. (if there is such a thing?) The following instruments were used: Clarinet, Violin, Trumpet, Cello, and Piano.

This score gave the film a luminous and happy feel. I will try the contemporary piece next.

Is anyone using the new review system on Criterion titles yet?

I can't say that I use any of the features provided by this site, so no. I'm especially annoyed by the search bar now built-in to the website's header.

On SpiderBaby's suggestion...I've watched it with the Elena Katz-Cherin contemporary score. I liked it a lot and it seemed to fit with the mood of the film. I'll likely review it again soon with the Monto Alto score.

Rich, I actually prefer the Alto score, as it gave me that sense of 'time' from the film. Seemed to fit right in with the film and its age. I viewed half the film with the Katz score and agree that it seems to follow the flow of the film better. But my tastes brought me back to the Alto score. I almost felt like I was sitting in the theater, at that time, viewing the film. The Katz score gives me that 'symphony' feeling and I felt it did not match the theme of the film.

Fair enough John...I'll give it a shot tomorrow after I finish tomorrow's NetFlix DVD..."Throne of Blood"...checking out a little Kurosawa...will probably pick up the Postwar Kurosawa Eclipse set next week.

I am thinking about purchasing Hunger in the upcoming sale. The question I have is that I already own it on DVD (Blockbuster exclusive) and love it, but is it worth the upgrade? There are no bonus features on the DVD. Are the bonus features on the Criterion version good?

+1
Diabolique, along with Psycho, sets the standard that all other films of this type will be judged. It is something to behold a true master's work.

Funny I almost put a on it when I posted. The life of a repo man is always intense.

It would be nice to see Sid & Nancy back in the collection. Been negligent so far about checking out his other stuff. Repo Chick, hmmm...
