My list of must own:

Last year at Marienbad
Red Desert
The Music Room
Close-up
Vigo set (August release)
The Third Man

I didn't put any Godard, though if your going for the "what everyone says are must own" then put Breathless there I guess (or wait until next year when Weekend and prob my fav Les Carabiniers might be in announcements).

You already have several I would have listed so...

Most owns (that are also favorites)
Diabolique
Seven Samurai

Favorites (that aren't necessarily 'must owns')
Kes
Sweet Smell of Success

And yeah, it's hard (though not impossible) to go wrong just throwing a dart. I haven't loved every CC I've picked up but I haven't really regretted any of them.

Videodrome is awesome, though it doesn't appeal to everyone. I still recommend you give it a try.

This list will probably grow as I go through repeat viewings but here's my current list:

Last Year at Marienbad (Might be their best blu-ray yet, imo)
The Red Shoes
Days of Heaven
The Wages of Fear
The Third Man
Complete Monterey Pop

I've apparently been blacklisted by DeepDiscount. I had a dispute with them over a cancelled order last Nov and they cancelled my order several weeks ago. First they tried to tell me Paypal rejected the order but after several CS levels it turned out there was some sort of flag or another on my account.

Which was fine, I was able to get Solaris for about the same price but I'm still annoyed over not getting The Hustler for like sixteen bucks.

Oh well

I have to send back all of my Criterion discs I bought from the sale and I can't buy anymore discs right now.

Kevin Brownlow's full 5 1/2 hour restoration of Abel Gance's Napoléon (1927) is going to make its U.S. premiere with a live Carl Davis-conducted score at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland, California in March and April of 2012. They'll even be erecting three screens to achieve the "Polyvision" "ultra-widescreen" finale. It's not planned to come to any other place in the USA, and Mr. Brownlow has apparently confirmed it will still not be available on BD (or DVD).

And I'm going to go.

(smiley hyperbole is appropriate in this case)

So it's going to cost me quite a bit of money, so I'll have to be very good for now until hell freezes over in order to pay for the flight and hotel.

Tickets are already on sale HERE for the four available screenings on March 24, 25, 31 and April 1, 2012.

You can read more about it at the following links:

Napoleon To Conquer U.S. Again

I know that everyone has a different opinion on this topic and that it's based on tastes, but after blind buying several Criterion discs based on my own personal preferences, I'm ready to expand a little and try something outside of my norm.

From my experiences with Criterion on DVD, it's as if you can't go wrong with closing your eyes and picking one randomly, but I thought I'd see if there's a title or two that stands out for the film lovers who seem to frequent this thread regularly.
Looking what you already own then I'd expected you'd like the following;

Sweet Smell of Success
The Killing (Once it's released)
Bigger Than Life
The Third Man

It's funny, I caught Jigoku on TCM a few weeks ago and wasn't particularly crazy about and yet any subsequent mention of Japanese ghost stories has piqued my interest.

finished watching Black Moon before... not gonna hassle anyone that likes it or anything, but man, that was not a film for me. Black Moon is the EXACT reason why i shouldn't blind buy Criterions. i enjoy probably like, 25% of the collection and the rest i find to be puzzling oddities of confusion and boredom. but hey, to each their own.

2/5 from me. wasn't the worst thing i've seen, but have absolutely no inclination to ever watch it again.

I enjoyed it when I saw it, but I don't remember it very well. In 2005 I think.

All this talk about Certified Copy makes me guess if Criterion will upgrade Taste of Cherry sometime in the near future. That would be an astonishing awesome release for sure .

I wasn't crazy about Jigoku, but I picked up another (older) film by the same director called Ghost Story of Yotsuya and that I really enjoyed. It's actually one of the most famous kaidan (Japanese ghost stories). I have an official DVD with English subtitles from Russia (I think).
