Picked up Solaris from the sale today. Had a 15% off one item coupon, so added that to the 50% + 10% members discount and got it for $16.56 with tax!
![]() I know this is a little late seeing as how the announcements were last week, but is anyone as excited as I am for The Four Feathers original, and Isle of Lost Souls in October!? That's going to be a great month. Can't wait. |

Well, I knew it had to make for more interesting posts than a bunch of movie titles with numbers out beside them, right? I can't think of anything more dull than going through page after page of lists of "favorites" or "ratings".

I don't mind favorites, as we all have favs, and I have said favs myself on here. But ratings is useless, and never read them.

is there someone (on this board) who owns all 572 criterions or almost?
just watched the third man yesterday, wow, what a great movie.highly recommended. i noticed that criterion has done reissues for some of their older releases,is there some site where all the reissues they have done so far are listed? Last edited by CarlitoBrigante; 07-24-2011 at 09:49 PM. |

I have all of the BDs, but only 250 or so of the DVDs..... He has many more than that (and the eclipse sets) I believe. The Third Man is certainly a great film.... a shame they didn't have the rights longer. |

![]() I think with my love of film, I am way past the point of "hipster-"I love David Lynch films type crap"". At any moment I can switch from watching the most hardcore, obscure, political film from a foreign website that I have to translate into watching Zombie's Halloween 2. 1, because I like both. And 2, I don't try to "rate" anything and make me out as something. Either I dislike it (insert Spielberg film or whatever you want) or love it, and I have favs which I like better than others, but I don't say "this is a 4.5 and this is a 3!". It's silly to me. A question for the "rating" people, do you actually rate documentary films or propaganda films like that too? Like do you rate Breathless a 4, but "Triumph of the Will" a 3.5.? Like how do you come up with that? Would Triumph be better if the propaganda documentary had more of a storyline? And why would Breathless be a 4 compared to it? (BTW, those 2 movies are examples. Not that any of you would rate them that way.) Last edited by SpiderBaby; 07-24-2011 at 10:17 PM. |

Lynch is okay, but I see alot of Kenneth Anger in his films, and since I believe Kenneth Anger is one of the most important American filmmakers, I really back away from Lynch's films (though you can also say Anger's films can see a sense of Maya Deren). Kind of like a early 60's Godard and Tarantino type thing (I said early 60's Godard because he changed filmmaking more than David Bowie changed hair styles).
