Ha, yeah but only if you rank them from your favorite to least favorite.

Picked up Solaris from the sale today. Had a 15% off one item coupon, so added that to the 50% + 10% members discount and got it for $16.56 with tax!

I know this is a little late seeing as how the announcements were last week, but is anyone as excited as I am for The Four Feathers original, and Isle of Lost Souls in October!? That's going to be a great month. Can't wait.

Thanks, Joe. I just noticed that after reading through all the quoted replies. Here I was trying to be all prophetic and absolute in the wee hours of the morning and go and douche-it-up by using the improper form of "they're".

Well, I knew it had to make for more interesting posts than a bunch of movie titles with numbers out beside them, right? I can't think of anything more dull than going through page after page of lists of "favorites" or "ratings".

I don't mind favorites, as we all have favs, and I have said favs myself on here. But ratings is useless, and never read them.

I almost forget what happened in here when the sale-excitement and announcement hoopla dies down......

Old codgers and young hipster punks raise pitchforks arm-in-arm..... a time of togetherness.

I believe Kndy likely owns the most amongst active people in this thread.....

I have all of the BDs, but only 250 or so of the DVDs..... He has many more than that (and the eclipse sets) I believe.

The Third Man is certainly a great film.... a shame they didn't have the rights longer.

Look on the bright side..... it can't be an insult if the person who said it (me in this case) doesn't have a clue as to what it means!

I think calling someone "hipster" is more or less a fad thing, like how you act or present yourself more-so than what movies/music you like (kind of like if you dress like a nerd or act like a nerd, you'll prob be called a nerd. If you dress like a gang member or act like a gang member, you'll prob be called a gang member). I mean I have a good idea (since there is a big community around here that acts like so called "hipsters"). So just based off of what I have seen, I don't own a flannel shirt, I don't drink any coffee (so check off all of the snob chats at coffee shops), never wore skin tight jeans (or lil' CG would be coming out of them) or wear those hats they wear. I actually keep to myself, and only friends I have are more-so into sports, which is my other love and they prob haven't even heard of Kubrick, let alone what I watch.

I think with my love of film, I am way past the point of "hipster-"I love David Lynch films type crap"". At any moment I can switch from watching the most hardcore, obscure, political film from a foreign website that I have to translate into watching Zombie's Halloween 2. 1, because I like both. And 2, I don't try to "rate" anything and make me out as something. Either I dislike it (insert Spielberg film or whatever you want) or love it, and I have favs which I like better than others, but I don't say "this is a 4.5 and this is a 3!". It's silly to me.

A question for the "rating" people, do you actually rate documentary films or propaganda films like that too? Like do you rate Breathless a 4, but "Triumph of the Will" a 3.5.? Like how do you come up with that? Would Triumph be better if the propaganda documentary had more of a storyline? And why would Breathless be a 4 compared to it? (BTW, those 2 movies are examples. Not that any of you would rate them that way.)

I think it means, as a gun slinger, you shoot from the hip.

SpiderBaby must not be a gunslinger.

http://www.criterion.com/

Wikipedia also has a list of all titles released over the years by Criterion.

Hard to determine if you do or don't enjoy Lynch..... but on a side note, I'm watching "Twin Peaks" for the first time (as I somehow missed this gem in the early 90's)

Lynch is okay, but I see alot of Kenneth Anger in his films, and since I believe Kenneth Anger is one of the most important American filmmakers, I really back away from Lynch's films (though you can also say Anger's films can see a sense of Maya Deren). Kind of like a early 60's Godard and Tarantino type thing (I said early 60's Godard because he changed filmmaking more than David Bowie changed hair styles).
